oh, I got the barley part, I just didn't get the "grain keep my eyes open part"

@Reeny: What an awesome list. Have you read Deerskin by Robin Mckinley? It's one of my favorites. Beauty by her is one of my top books. |

Since I put barley before, I just substituted grain that time. Just to bug her in a joking manner. xD |
This is pretty book related so I hope it's ok to ask, but has anyone checked out the new Barnes&Noble nook reader? I'm thinking of ordering one since it'll be easier to store books and the ebooks are a bit cheaper too.
|
Dream_and_Die: Thank you for the welcome! ^_^
shadowfoot: I have not read Deerskin yet. I don't think they have it at my library -- or, at least, every time I check they don't have it. I enjoyed Beauty, but for some reason I liked Chalice better. I know, most people that I read reviews from (after reading it) didn't seem to like it as much as her others, but ... I don't know, something struck me about it. ^_^ If anyone has any other recommendations, I'm more than happy to try something! It's funny, once I started making up this list, I was like "wow" if I keep going at this pace, I will have read more than 50 books in a year. Looking like an average of 1 a week. Crazy! ^_^ |

LaVida: Castle in the Air comes after Howl's Moving Castle, the third one which is still fairly new is House of Many Ways.

Nike - I've been looking at some of the eReaders the Nook looks cool but the new Kindle is also pretty cool. From the research I was doing the Nook might have more features and possibilities than the Kindle.
I want to buy one but it seems useless to me because I already own so many books in paper back I don't want to spend more money to get them electronically too. |
Dream_and_Die>> Thanks :D

@Melissa
Yeah, buying the physical books again in eBook format would seem a bit much, but then future books would be less expensive... The Nook did look like it had more features that I would want, the newest Kindle coming out is supposed to have internet browsing but I don't think I would want that ability anyway. It would be nice to have multiple books with me taking up the space that just one would normally. Especially on trips. |
Diana has a new one coming out in April. It's a stand alone called Enchanted Glass.
|
I'm finally over half-way done with Lewis Carroll's complete works! And the rest will go so much faster since it's mostly verse and word-games! This is so exciting to me!
Then it's either on to Dracula or The Love You Make... I can't decide which to read first! |
My problem these days is, I have so much on my potential reading list- then I get distracted by other books in the middle. Its not like that really means anything, its not like I have to read any particular book since its all for fun, but I find I get annoyed at myself when I have a sort of reading list set up and then I sneak other books into it.
Isn't that just silly? |
Eyea's November Book List Goal: To start reading on a regular basis. I once read the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy plus The Hobbit in one month. I at least want to read one chapter a month now. I have two toddlers and a full time job, so I won't start too high. Books Read none finished Currently Reading Eldest- Book two of the Eragon trilogy Reading Goal V2 This one is for my three year old daughter. I want to start reading her three books a day. I will post the list so far at a later time. |
Eyea, wow, it looks like you have your hands full!
But I think it's worth it to read, even if it's just a little at a time. Not only does it help YOU escape and have time to yourself, but if you continue to make it a habit, your children will always remember you reading and know that it's something that can be enjoyable and worth taking the time for. Interestingly enough, I remember my mother always reading for pleasure, but not my dad. Now, regarding my siblings, about half of us read for pleasure, and the other half don't. Hmmm..... However, I have to say that between me and my older brother (I have an oldest brother as well, as well as a younger brother and an older sister -- yep, a lot of us ^_^), he and I probably take up a LARGE chunk of that. We're both voracious readers! And I think it's great you want to start with your little one. Reading should not become a thing of the past ... and there's something to be said about holding a back in your hand (going back to the discussions about the e-readers). ^_^ |
I read Castle in the Air before I read Howl's Moving Castle because I got it out of the library without realising. If I was going to read the latest book I'd have to reread those ones first because I can
Moxie: This year I've made a 'to read' list and to be honest I can name about three books from it. XD Eyea: Good luck with your and your children's lists. ^^ |

bgrove's list
BGrove's 50 Book Challenge List
Reading: How To Build a House by Dana Reinhardt Next: Finished: |
On Diana Wynne Jones: Does anybody know which Howl's Moving Castle came first? Her book, or Miyazaki's animated film? Not that it really matters, I was simply pondering. |
Howl's Moving Castle was published in 1986. XD
I was so confused when I saw the film in a shop, I thought they'd just used the same title. + Thanks for the info shadow! |
Ah, okay. I definitely need to add more of her books to my list anyhow. ^^ I've only read The Game so far, any recommendations as to where I should start? |
It's been forever since I read a Dianna Wynne Jones book. I remember enjoying the books from the Chrestomanci series though. ^^
To be honest the only book I've read of hers that I didn't like is probably The Time of the Ghost. |
Ah, okay. Then I suppose I'll start with Howl's Moving Castle, because I loved the movie, and then I'll check out the Chrestomanci series. ^^ I honestly had no idea she'd written so many books. |
Heh, I want to read them now but all my DWJ books are at home. >.<
