Dream- I just finished Thorn Queen literally less than five minutes ago! I AM SO ANGRY. D:< AT A CERTAIN MAN. I am SURE you can guess WHO. I'm actually angry at a fair few characters and things that happened right now, but mostly him.
You've finished it, right? *wants to make sure she doesn't sart angry discussing in spoiler tags if you haven't*
But I totally agree! I don't WANT to wait for spring to follow Georgina and Rose's stories, and all I know is that the next Dark Swan novel isn't coming out until sometime in 2010. D:<

Anthony Darkyn 11-18-2009 10:40 PM

@Iltu
I'm not reading those books, but I totally understand that plight. xD I'm biting my fingers waiting for the next Merry/Anita books. I used to be that way about Animorphs way back when... Ah, the good ol' days. xD I hate starting series. I used to be an avid Manga reader, and I got hooked on a couple of sereis that were still being written in Japan!! A couple I gave up on, as they've not had a new book in a long while (Legal Drug, Black Knight...), but it disappoints me. :(

Dream_and_Die 11-18-2009 11:05 PM

@Anthony: Ah Laurell K. Once your hooked, you're done for. XD

@Iltu: I finished it a while ago. Wait which person are you mad at? There way more then a few I want to bash on the head, and a few I want to poke out of irritation.

Iltu 11-18-2009 11:10 PM

Anthony- Kind of glad I don't read those books, then. XD I hate waiting.

Dream- Thorn Queen spoiler box. ;D

SPOILERX

Mostly Leith. THAT BASTARD. I am SO glad he's dead. And I'm a little mad at Kiyo too. I don't think he understood what poor Eugenie went through, or really even tried to. I've never liked Dorian at all, so I hope Kiyo redeems himself and he and Eugenie get back together. Or that Eugenie just finds a new man altogether.
And Roland. I know he's not too peachy-keen on gentry, but he's being a baby about this whole thing. Eugenie is still Eugenie, and his daughter.
And of course Art and Abigail. Haaaate theeeeem.
I think I'm forgetting some other people. Lots of anger and saddness during the last hundred pages of that book. I cried some.

Dream_and_Die 11-18-2009 11:18 PM

Iltu:

SPOILERX

See I never like Kiyo, I found him... well possessive. You don't mark someone on the first date! You just don't. U_U Though now I am royally pissed at him and want him to run away and never come back. Dorian, I liked him... now though I have the urge to poke him with something really pointy. OMG her step-dad. I want to kill him. Like you don't do that to your daughter, and that was so rude to not care if gentry girls, innocent gentry girls, are getting raped. So what if its reversed, it's still the exact same horrible thing that happened to your wife. Jerk.

Iltu 11-18-2009 11:23 PM

Dream-

SPOILERX

Yeah, that's one of my problems with Kiyo and why I hope she just finds a new guy. He's SO controlling. What makes you want to poke Dorian with something really pointy now? (I'd like to as well, mind. Perhaps that new sword of his and its iron tip?) I know! Especially because those gentry girls were just minding their own bussiness in thier own world, and then were taken. It's not like they and their parents don't feel just like humans do! You'd think he could have some empathy.

Dream_and_Die 11-19-2009 03:05 AM

Iltu:

SPOILERX

I heart Dorian and all, but he's got an ego sometimes and it needs deflating. Just a poke to remind not to be a jerk. xD

Iltu 11-19-2009 03:10 AM

Dream-

SPOILERX

Oh, so poking with a sword tipped with iron is NOT quite what you were going for? :lol: But yeah, he does have a huge ego. Maybe he'll let some of the hot air out in the next book. I might accept him a little more then.

Dream_and_Die 11-19-2009 03:23 AM

Iltu:

SPOILERX

No, no iron poking. I don't want him dead... just wounded, and NOT so I can drag him back to my world... >_>; <_<;

I feel like we're talking in code. xD

Iltu 11-19-2009 03:26 AM

Dream- I know. Not only are we speaking in spoiler tags, but abput stuff that will totally confuse people who have not read the books. XD

Anthony Darkyn 11-19-2009 02:33 PM

@Dream&Iltu
I laughed as I scrolled down looking at all the spoiler boxes. xD

@Dream
Yes, it's quite true. I am eternally on edge waiting for the next book. D:

@Iltu
Come join the dark side. It's fun here. xD There are plenty of both series out to keep you occupied for a while... >3

Dream_and_Die 11-19-2009 03:30 PM

I'm bad enough that I go and find her short stories in those collection books. xD
The Merry book is coming out next right? T_T I don't want to wait! :gonk:

siaasgn 11-19-2009 04:02 PM

See- that's why I wait until a series is over- then I can sit down and read them all at once (or it's because I find out about stuff after it's been out forever) :XD

On a different note- I've managed to read 50 books! And I still have a whole month before my year is up! :squee:

Dream_and_Die 11-19-2009 05:24 PM

Congrats siaasgn!!
I thought I waited long enough with Anita Blake, there were 16 books out when I started and the 17th was due out not long after I finished. Unfortunately - fortunately maybe - it doesn't look like the series is going to slow down any time soon. I usually do wait till the entire series is at least written before I start reading (hence why I have so many unread books on my self).

I finished Kushiel's Avatar! That does it for trilogy one in the series! I think I'm going to take a bit of a break before I go get Kushiel's Scion, they're just a little complicated to read so many in a row. xD
I just realized I'm over a quarter of the way through my goal... and it's only been a little over a month. XD

Knerd 11-19-2009 06:13 PM

Woo! Hooray for Sia!

I've fallen so far behind this year, I'm only at 27 books. :lol:

Guivre 11-19-2009 09:53 PM

Congratulations, siaasgn, that must feel like a job well done. =D

I updated my list to include Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which I just finished.

I have to admit, after two fiction books, I'm beginning to feel like how I usually feel: "Life is too short to read fiction." But maybe I'll feel better after reading this next book, which is by authors I already know I like.

Titenya 11-19-2009 09:57 PM

I started this last year... and then I left Mene for a while so stopped writing my list down... i know i did more than 50... lol though i've been working on the same book since Aug so yeah not happening any time soon I guess.

Guivre 11-19-2009 10:05 PM

Aw, that happens sometimes though.

siaasgn 11-20-2009 07:33 PM

Thanks all - I guess working in a library and being surrounded by books makes me even more of a reader than I already was

@Dream_and_Die - Ohh - I love the Kushiel series! They really are dense books - Scion, Justice, and Mercy fit well and still involve Phèdre - the newest book in the series - Naamah's Kiss is in the same world - but Phèdre is almost a legend in the timeline. I was a little unsure how I felt about that- but it was really good. And I'm pretty sure there will be more on the way. :yes:

I keep hearing good things about Anita Blake - but I've been scared to try and start the series - I don't know if I'm up to getting that deep into a new world right now.

Anthony Darkyn 11-20-2009 09:51 PM

@siaasgn
DO EET!! DO EET NAO! xD I can't recommend Anita Blake enough, especially the first few books. Hamilton, I think, had a bit of a slump recently, but the most recent gives me hopes she's pulling out of it and getting back on track. :3

I'm now curious about this Kushiel series. I may have to check it out. You know. When I have time to read. xD

Guivre 11-20-2009 10:33 PM

Now I feel like picking up some Anita Blake. D= I had a friend who was so into her work years ago and I never did read any. Hmm ...

I have to update my list. I just finished Inferno, the book that the new release Escape from Hell is a sequel to. I think the sequel is a much better book, actually, which is a nice surprise.

Serenna 11-21-2009 12:51 AM

ive read a lot of books this year but obviously i havent kept track of them...im reading the time traveler's wife right now and its really good >.< i guess ill just wait until next year then...sigh...so much time to wait! k whatever good luck to everyone else.

Dream_and_Die 11-21-2009 03:59 AM

@siaasgn: I saw that the next three are Imri's story but the new one when I read the back I was like... Who? o_O;;
I picked up the first three thinking they'd be an easy adventure/romance style book. All I have to say to that is... Holy $#*! the politics. @[email protected] It blew my mind. xD
I adore how its still "real" world setting though. It's alternate universe Paris (if I'm correct)! It made me laugh when they'd describe a nation and in my head I'd put the real nation. xD

Whoever hasn't read Anita Blake, Go Go Go! At least the first eight, she did hit a slump a little bit before Incubus Dreams and only just (with Skin Trade) started to bring herself back up.

Guivre 11-21-2009 09:04 PM

Eight books would be a lot of good reading to look forward to. =D

Right now I'm finishing up a book, non-fiction, on how Lucifer was portrayed in the Middle Ages.

Iltu 11-21-2009 09:27 PM

Oh my gosh, I just finished Sold by Patricia McCormick. That book is SO SAD. D:
On the plus side, though, only four books left until I reach my book goal, and I beat my page goal. ^^
