siaasgn: You poor soul D= I practically live in Borders or the HPB so if they closed I'd be lost lol

Iltu: I actually didn't get there until a little before 9 >>; I meant to go earlier but I slept in. I didn't have a whole lot to spend but it was still fun and then I went to another store and got a calculator *w* (I needed one for College Alegbra. I don't know how I was passing that class without one)

@siaasgn -- I hate to see bookstores close, even if they're part of a superchain. ._.

@Iltu -- I LOVE Half-Price books. =D If only I'd had a day off. D=
*Goes to look at title again, facepalms* Sheesh, I couldn't remember it correctly either, and I love that book. I read it because I had gotten the Last Unicorn and wanted to read something else by the author.

I want to read a book set in Legoland now. I've never been, bit too expensive when we'd have to drive for seven or so hours to get there in the first place. XD

Getting used to a local library rather than a big city one is harder than I'd thought. I discovered this week they don't only have the second Hunter's Blades Trilogy book, the first one is just nowhere near it. They seem to be very flexible when it comes to the alphabet on occasion.

The larger the library is, the harder it becomes to keep it organized. I used to shelf-read (organize the books already placed on the shelves) for volunteer hours and it was tough to keep track of all the series.

Does anyone here have a Goodreads account? I just made one last night and I'd love to add some friends!

.. . .decisions
The Borders near me went out of business, I had the same plan thinking there would be awesome deals, but there weren't. The most off they gave was 30% but that was only for a select few books. The Majority were 15 and 20 % off and I can get that online or at any other discount book seller, so was a bit disappointed.
Thought it really sad that a bookstore couldn't stay in business on a college campus. O.o

Knerd- No, buut what is Goodreads?

Awww, I just finished Forever Odd earlier today... One, Datura is one of my least favorite book characters of all time. Two, I am in love with Little Ozzie, and I really don't care if he's 400 and isn't a super buff werewolf that sparkles in the sunlight. He is absolutely one of the most charming characters it has ever been my pleasure to encounter in a novel. Three, Little Ozzie and odd Thomas are two of my favorite book characters of all time.
I love this series. <3
And two more books until I reach my goal!

This library is like the equivalent of an independent record store where the owner decides to sort the records into an order like "number of tracks containing bongos" rather than the expected genre and artist.

Borders UK has been in administration since Thursday. :/

@Knerd: I have both a GoodReads and a Shelfari. I wish I'd had one sooner though, since I've read so many books that I can't even remember a good portion of them. >.<

Anyways, feel free to friend me. ^^ http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/2922150

Yep, they're right - Bookreads is like a social networking site for book lovers. It's impressed me so far. It's much easier to navigate than other "virtual bookshelves" I've used before, and Bookreads really pushes the social aspect of reading. It's nice to join the many groups and jump into discussions with everyone.

I'd love to friend any of you guys: You'll find my profile Here.

I just updated my list having just finished The Yamato Dynasty, by Sterling Seagrave, a book I've been avoiding awhile, but needed to read. ._.

@Reeny, that is a healthy bit of reading. D= I have not read the Wheel of Time series (have friends that love it, though) but I know they are very, very thick ...

I will say it did take quite awhile, but it was worth it. I do recommend it ... but if I were you I might just wait until the whole series ends before picking it up. One of the reasons I re-read is because it had been over 4 years since the last one. That's a big chunk of time!

There are a few slow ones, but I guarantee, so far I see a nice payoff for almost a 20-year investment! Hmmm.... now that I write that, it doesn't seem like such a payoff! *LOL* Okay, let me say ... a nice payoff for a 15-book investment!

So far, I've made much quicker progress than I thought I might(at twenty books in just a month!), but I'm starting to slow down a bit due to certain video games. >.>

Right now I'm in the middle of the Book Thief by Markus Zusak, which I'm finding myself quite fond of, partially because of the story itself, but also largely due to the fresh way in which it is written.

And with Heroes of the Valley by Jonathan Stroud (a fabulous, fabulous, amazing book that I could NOT put down), I have completed my challenge and read a hundred books! *does a dance* And with a little under two weeks to spare! I feel so accomplished...
Now to decide if I want to push myself and significantly up the number next year, and if I want to restart on December 13th again or just wait until January 1st... *ponders*

Riskia- I LOVE THE BOOK THEIF. <3 It's got one fo the best narration styles I've ever encountered.

The Borders UK website is trading again rather than just being that lovely message from their administrators (said message is just lurking menacingly at the top of the page instead).

Woo Iltu! I've owned a Jonathan Stroud book for ages now, should really read it...

@Iltu: I know! I don't think I've ever read a book written even remotely like The Book Thief. Not to mention it's a very good story. I may have to push myself and finish it tonight.

Kat- Which one is it? I've read and LOVED the Bartimaeus trilogy and Heroes of the Valley, and thought Buried Fire was okay. I've not read the Leap and The Last Seige by him, though...

Riskia- It's a wonderful blast of literary creativity. <3

I love Zusak. I've liked every one of his books that I've read. I really liked Getting the Girl and Fighting Ruben Wolfe.

Iltu: The Amulet of Samarkand. Someone in sixth form recommended it to me. I'll try to read it after I've finished the books I have out from the library.

+ It's been ages since I read a Forgotten Realms book but The Thousand Orcs is awesome. Drizzt. <3

I updated my list today. I feel like I've missed some books on it. I need to go in and look up who the authors are on some manga I've read in the past month. I sort of lump a whole series together into one book.

Uhg...I feel lazy and I need to get more books. Luckily the kindle has just put a software update out that lets me drop pdfs directly onto it so I don't have to convert things anymore. This makes me moderately happy.

I updated my list again! I re-read Pride and Prejudice. It's my fave book!

I am currently now reading Books #49 and #50, although I MAY be able to squeeze in another before the end of the year. Or not. We'll see!

Whee! ^_^
