Will do, Shadowfoot and Aoi! Neil Gaiman has earned my love.

Hey, are any Terry Prachett fans about? I'm curious, should the Discworld books be read in order?

Lilith W 01-08-2010 01:52 AM

@Iltu- I actually haven't read that one by her. Is it good? I'll have to go find it.

@shadowfoot- I liked Stardust. Not so much on the movie.

@aoi midori- Neverwhere was really good. My favorite book of his is American Gods.

Iltu 01-08-2010 01:55 AM

Lilith- I remember liking it a lot, but I read it a few years back.

I love terry pratchet, you don't have to read them in any order

Iltu 01-08-2010 02:17 AM

Awesome! I checked out Thud! by him, and was a little dismayed to see it was part of such a long series. Good to know I can read it on it's own.

Sally Sinema 01-08-2010 02:22 AM

yeah, he's really funny. He and Neil Gaiman did a book together called good omens

Lilith W 01-08-2010 02:22 AM

I kind of want to read Hogfather, is it any good?

Robard 01-08-2010 06:43 AM

Yes. This is a wholly reasonable desire and there is no reason not to act on it. =D
All the Discworld books are really funny, and I love the way Pratchett writes Death.

KatMagenta 01-08-2010 04:11 PM

While you don't have to read the Discworld books in order I found it more enjoyable when I did (this is the guide me and a friend used). I've heard Pratchett says after The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic you can go anywhere though. ^^;

I want to read Charles Stross now, I own more unread books by him than books of his I have read.

So I just finished my first book of 2010 - their eyes were watching god by Zora Neale Hurston.

It was a little difficult at first because of the way she wrote the dialog, but once i got used to it the dialog was almost musical. Really powerful book.

That book was fantastic!! I really love Gaiman - and after reading that I intend to pick up some Pratchett for sure :yes:

Iltu 01-08-2010 09:54 PM

Sia- I love Their Eyes Were Watching God! It was one of my summer reading books this year, and it was a joy to read.

LaVida 01-08-2010 11:34 PM

Iltu>> lol, thanks, I love your merry and the little lamb avi XD it was such a dramatic change that I barely recognized you XD

Iltu 01-09-2010 12:16 AM

Thanks!
I was cosplaying Little Bo Peep and didn't even think of that! X3 I loved the Mary Had a Little Lamb rhyme when I was little.

LaVida 01-09-2010 03:01 AM

lol, I just thought of that because I was making a pair of pajama pants with a ton of sheep on it XD it was supposed to be the sheep you count to sleep jumping over a fence, but instead, I kept on humming Ba Ba Black Sheep X3 and then my business teacher saw my pajama pants and started humming Mary Had a Little Lamb XD

Arikana 01-09-2010 03:50 AM

I don't think I'd be able to focus and do this even if I do love to read, but I'll gladly be a cheerleader (minus the hideous outfit and pompoms) and cheer for y'all! =)

KatMagenta 01-09-2010 03:10 PM

Wow, I love your avatar Arikana.

I read the ABC Murders over the last couple of nights because I haven't been able to sleep so well. One of the best Poirot novels I've read so far (even if I am reading them all out of order).

Arikana 01-09-2010 04:01 PM

Thanks, Kat! But, seriously? It's so clutterific! >w<;

And I love yours too! Though, I think you could use a bit more dark purple at the top. >w< And if the candy part of the cravat has a dark purple version, then use it instead? >w<;

Anyways, how are you doing today? =)

LaVida 01-09-2010 06:47 PM

Arikana>> lol, I think it's amazing that you can make a clutterific outfit XD because some items just overlap and then the system won't allow it, so I think making a avatar cluttered is a very hard thing to do XD

Arikana 01-09-2010 07:13 PM

Thanks, LaVida! =)

And yeah, they are hard. D: Especially multi-equip items since they don't tell you when a pose will overlap another multi-equip item pose. D:

KatMagenta 01-09-2010 08:44 PM

I like the clutter avatars, they make a change from every single colour being perfectly balanced in teeny little blocks.

Yeah, I need something purple on my head but I don't have anything and I'm cheap. I'll look at the shops and see if there's something suitable Tetris can buy me. =P

Heh, I ought to say something about books. I'm going to attempt to start The Atrocity Archives for the third or so time, poor 2001: A Space Odyssey will just have to go back to the library for now.

Arikana 01-09-2010 08:52 PM

Mmm.. yeah, they definitely are a nice change to see on others' avatars every now and then, but when you see it on your own, it gets annoying after a while.. but I'm like for almost EVERY avatar I make! :lol:

Why anything suitable that tetris can buy you when you have like 33.5k shown under your avatar? owo;

KatMagenta 01-09-2010 09:10 PM

But you if you spend the gold then it's gone! <- I'm currently in the process of trying to get over this.

Arikana 01-09-2010 09:20 PM

Maybe I should kidnap some from you to help you spend it? XD I could use more gold for my current avatar anyways. :lol:

LaVida 01-09-2010 09:34 PM

KatMagenta>> yea, are you saving up for something? :d

Arikana 01-09-2010 09:57 PM

O: Maybe she's saving up for gifts for us, LaVida! ;D
