;3; I'll try and attempt this but I've been neglecting my books recently.
Besides, it's almost mid-year, so... unless I aim for 50 books for this time next May... yeah, let's go with that. >.> Does manga count? ;P I'll only put in a few. >.> [she says] satsu's book list 1) Death Note vol. 2 2) Ceres Celestial Legend vol. 2 3) Fushigi Yugi Genbu Kaiden vol. 2 4) Fushigi Yugi Genbu Kaiden vol. 3 5) Guru Guru Pon-chan vol. 1 6) Da Vinci Code; Dan Brown 7) Scaredy Cat; Mark Billingham 8) Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter, Guilty Pleasures; Laurrel K. @ satsuki:
-twitch- Only a few? o0;; Manga counts if you want it to. :3 You're the rulekeeper of your own list. ^^ |
Just want to say hello - I have FINALLY updated my book list...
looks like I might make 30.000 pages this year... |
*screams at satsuki's list* OH MY GOD! @[email protected]
I didn't know manga counted... I read lots of online manga. |
Well, I'm being a good girl-- fanfiction doesn't count. Nope!
Anyhoo: Reading Austen's Emma, and I've isolated the element of Austen's writing style which fails to intrigue me. At the beginning of every exposition, she lists the characteristics, faults, and thought-processes of each character almost as though in a laundry list. I like having the nature of a character established by that character's own actions. This fashion of prose isn't working for me. I am pretty much enjoying the book though-- mostly thanks to Mr. Knightley, who serves as a lovely character foil to the increasingly irritating Emma. Who is vapid, despite intellectual capability. I detest Emma. Megh. Mr. Woodhouse tickles me pink, though. :) That is all. Hope you're all doing well with your reading lists. Yay for Manga! ... I won't count fanfiction. I'm a good girl, and I'm not going to count fanfiction... |
Now that I'm home on vacation, I'll be able to do a lot more reading. I've got a whole stack of books just waiting to be opened.
First, I think I'm going to start another one of David McCullough's books. I love Truman, and I know that my father owns a whole collection of his writing, so I'll just have to figure out which one I want to start next. |
I wanna join! One question, would I count the books I have already read this year or do I start from now?
|
Sounds like fun. I think I'll give it a shot. [Runa]'s List of Stuff
¤ - Currently reading ☼ - To be read ♥ - Finished reading I need to go through unread books I have and add them to the list.... Though that requires digging them out of the garage. What fun. Dx I'm not adding my manga though because I have like... nearly two hundred volumes I think. It would be way to easy if I just did that. |

If you can remember all the books you've already read this year, then by all means add them to your list! Otherwise, it might be easier to start today and go until next May. |
Oh, I remember most of them, but I'll go from this may to next May then. Jusr so I don't forget anything.
|
that sounds really great! i'm going to try and do 50 in one year starting now! but it's going to be hard! i go away to school in the fall but i think i can do it! <3
|
um, I've already read 70 thus far in the school year 0w0?
I'm shooting for 100 =P I have two really unorganized reading lists X_x neither of which I refer to very often, sadly ._. |
Here's my list! And I'm counting Mangas. Serafim's List 1.Return to the Labyrinth Vol. 2 2.RE: Play Vol. 2 3. The Essential Dalai Lama |
I think that, in order to catch up on this year, I'm going to make my goal be about 170 pages a day. I think that I can make it, if I take to waking up early.
I'm really excited right now because I know the AP English assignment for this summer. I just went out to purchase the books; my friends and I are going to be competing for fastest completion/ best performance on the homework, and I want to make sure that I can start the moment our teacher officially assigns it. Meanwhile, I also picked up a book on cognitive therapy. It looks quite interesting. I love buying books. (Note: the 170 goal is only until August. Thereafter, I'm going to make the goal 100 a day. That should take care of the AP Eng./ AP Gov. necessities. ) |
Fifty books, eh? If Manga count do Graphic novels and trade paperbacks (American Comics) count too? They're usually longer than your average manga GN...
If not, I'll just count twenty five issues of comics as graphic novels...25 issues times 30 pages per issue...that's like...seven hundred and fifty pages of comics!! (ZOMG) I read too much I think... |
=D This looks like so much fun! I love reading, so I'm going to aim for 100 ^_^

Gosh, it feels like everyone in here's read Jane Austen's books...
I know they're really popular, though, so... P: Maybe I should add them to my to-read list... Gosh, I'm so glad summer's going to be here soon~ With the break, I can tackle my to-read list! >D I haven't added anything recently because I never finish my books! Dx I was like, three chapters away from finishing High Fidelity, but then my brother took it back, and I'll never see it again. ; o ; |
I'm almost done with the book list!

SO I just finished reading 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' by Mohsin Hamid, and I wasn't much impressed. I really wouldn't recommend it to any of you guys - The story has potential, but the entire thing just fell flat. I expected it to be much better.
I'll come back here and update the master list as soon as I have time, I promise! But with the event going on, my hands are pretty busy. |
tentenpuff:: Read Pride and Prejudice.
Its one of my favorite books of all time. |
