hehe probably due to her books being pretty popular and also due to how some people enjoy her writings. myself i'm drawn more towards the vampire chronicles than any of the others. i might try the angel writings she has done at a later time.

LaVida 04-27-2010 08:37 PM

lol, and I need to try out her books sometime in the future years XD

Bulbasaur 04-27-2010 11:40 PM

I'm major annoyed >.<
I still can't find the book I'm meant to be reading next and I was going to start it a few days ago u___U

bethanynel813 04-27-2010 11:43 PM

I have finished all my good books now, and am hunting for the others in the series I am reading. Library tommarow!

(I need to read Extras in the Uglies series and the second Pretty Little Liars book)

Aww, that's what it's about, challenging yourself. ^^

I honestly don't even dare start a book until the end of my exams or else I'll read instead of revising or sleeping.

Yeah, that might be why I'm not reading as much right now like I want to.
Got to focus on projects and exams to study for.

KaoKitty 04-28-2010 03:32 AM

I'm barely finished with my first book I really should read a lot more then spend time on here lol or stop watching movies

Roxxi Shiagami 04-30-2010 02:12 AM

lol. I've been reading up a storm lately. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble finishing a book at the moment. I think I've got like seven books going at the same time. My mom's wondering how I can keep up with all the plot lines.

btw bulbasaur, I like the sig.

Dream_and_Die 04-30-2010 01:34 PM

:flails and collapses:
I hate finals month. So many papers due at once.
I haven't read in about a week. :gonk:

I did finally buy Rebel Fay and Child of a Dead God. At least once school's out I can finish series one of the Noble Dead series. ^_^

LaVida 04-30-2010 08:15 PM

oh wow, my finals ain't until June....

`Kitami 05-01-2010 06:52 AM

Well, here's a bit of interesting (?) news.
I've been doing this challenge since 2008, but this is the first time I've really organized my list. Before, I'd just read whatever and then write it on my list. But as of now, I have all fifty books that I want (plus a couple more if I have time) written out on a paper, so I know what I'm going to read next.

I think this will make reaching my goal much easier. ^^

Guivre 05-01-2010 05:42 PM

@Kitami -- Yeah, defining your goal with a book list would also give you something to look forward to. =D

I'm almost done with the Dawkins book, but it's a beautiful day out, plus it's Derby Day, so probably will wait to finish it till tomorrow.

LaVida 05-01-2010 09:45 PM

'Kitami>> well, for us super-unorganized people, it would actually be a lot easier if we read it and THEN put the names of the books down XP because we plan to read it and then it tends to get un-read XP

Guivre 05-01-2010 09:57 PM

I like looking through reviews for new books to read. But it would be nice to make a list of classics at some point. I know if I make a list of books I need/want to get around to or something I'll wind up reading like 20 books in a year instead of like, 80 or whatever it is I normally do.

LaVida 05-01-2010 11:23 PM

Guivre>> yea...but right now it's, like, I read the stuff that's on my list and also another that's not XD I found that it feels like I'm plowing through the books that ARE on the list :(

bethanynel813 05-01-2010 11:51 PM

I need to list out my books to. Hm... I want to read:

1. The second 'Pretty little Liars' book
2. the 3rd 'Catching Fire' book ( I know its not out )
3. The fourth 'Uglies'
4. Finish 'the divide'
5. finish 'Life As We Knew it'
6. 'The Mysterious Benidict Society' series

thats all I can think of off the top of my head. :D

Dream_and_Die 05-02-2010 01:22 AM

If you liked the Uglies "trilogy" then just throw all of Scott Westerfeld on your list. ^_^ He's great, and I'm not just saying that because he broke out into song for me. XD

Roxxxy 05-02-2010 03:26 AM

@knerd: I read something a loooong time ago by Richard Bachman... Think it was 'Desperation' maybe? I was super into Stephen King when I was a kid.

`Kitami 05-02-2010 10:38 PM

I only like a few books by Stephen King. :/
I loved Rage by Richard Bachman though...lol. Me and my mom managed to find his collected works. Which was harder than it sounds, as they banned anything with Rage in it from the library and everything.

I actually believe I have read several of his books, but that was before I payed attention to authors. :O

Guivre 05-03-2010 09:19 PM

Yay, I finished The Greatest Show on Earth yesterday and am moving on to something fictional next. =D I'm not sure which one, I have three medium-length books I took home from the library to choose from.

`Kitami 05-05-2010 11:45 PM

Guivre:: Put them in a row and play eenie-meenie to pick?

LaVida 05-06-2010 12:20 AM

lol, I second that idea! XD

Guivre 05-06-2010 10:53 PM

That's a great idea, Kitami. I'll write that down for the next time I'm in that state, which is probably going to be like, next week, knowing me. =D

I read John Smolens' book The Anarchist about the assassination of President William McKinley. It was decent. The plot was well constructed but the characters were rather wooden and there was a surprising lack of detail, considering that you could tell the author did his research. Like, I could tell that he researched cigars, because Czolgosz apparently liked cigars, but there was really nothing there except an obscure brand name. When he did put detail into his description it was interesting enough reading.

Ah well, it's not the worst book I've ever read, but not exactly a thrill to finish.

siaasgn 05-15-2010 02:04 PM

Just added 5 more books to my list, I'm so horrible at keeping it up to date.

Not sure how many of you are on twitter (or if this was mentioned already) but there is a One Book One Twitter event going on where it's a twitter book club- right now the book is American Gods by Neil Gaiman (really good book - I make everyone I cna read it!) - for more info you can follow @1B1T2010 or search for the #1b1t

Guivre 05-15-2010 07:20 PM

Oh neat, I'll have to check that out. I'm on twitter under my rl nickname "dinska".

Right now I'm in the middle of reading [I]The Two Lives of Miss Charlotte Merryweather[/I by Alexandra Potter. I don't like it all that much for various reasons, which I'm sure I'll get into when I finish, but I really needed something light to read before bed while I'm moving these two weeks. The first 100 pages were HORRID, but it is improving as it goes along.
