@Iltu: If it's that painful, why not just put it aside for now, and come back to it later? Or, you could read a bit of that, read something else, and just flip back and forth. So that you don't lose your mind, you know? xD

@Taiyo: Oh, damn.

Iltu 07-30-2010 12:24 AM

Riskia- I've got to have it done in a month, and if I let myself read other things while I read it, I'll put it off until three days before school starts and go absolutely mad trying to get it done. That's what happened with The Sun Also Rises last year. :gonk:
Best for me to dangle the carrot, so to speak

TaiyoTsuki 07-30-2010 12:32 AM

I like blinding people.

RisikaFox 07-30-2010 12:37 AM

@Iltu: Oh, is it required reading then? O.o It's been ages since I had to do something like that.

@Taiyo: You remind me of a friend of mine. xD

TaiyoTsuki 07-30-2010 12:39 AM

Oh? How so?

RisikaFox 07-30-2010 12:40 AM

Just your comment about enjoying blinding people. xD She's never actually said anything like that, but I wouldn't be surprised if she did. xD

TaiyoTsuki 07-30-2010 01:00 AM

Why do you have a squid on your head?

Iltu 07-30-2010 01:02 AM

Riskia- Yeah, for AP English. I liked the other book we read, though! Slaughterhouse Five was great.

Roxxxy 07-30-2010 01:31 AM

Taiyo: I really like your hair!
Risika: It is a book about a forensic anthropologist named Temperance Brennan. It's by the creator of the show BONES; which is why both characters have the same name.

MedievalBeauty 07-30-2010 01:39 AM

I'm still reading ghost girl: homecoming by tonya hurley, very slack I have been.

RisikaFox 07-30-2010 08:12 AM

@Taiyo: Me? Well... Because I can. ^^

@Roxxxy: Oooh, I might have to check that out then. I loved what I saw of BONES, even though I only saw a few episodes.

TaiyoTsuki 07-30-2010 07:23 PM

What color should I make my hair now...?

Knerd 08-02-2010 09:00 PM

Have any of you guys read books by James Loewen? His two most famous non-fiction books are probably Lies My Teacher Told Me and Lies Across America.

I'm trying to find excerpts from these two books that might interest high school kids, or kids with lower reading levels. The only problem is that the things I love to read, students really don't.

RisikaFox 08-02-2010 09:12 PM

Sorry Knerd, I'm not familiar with either of those books. >.<

On a better note: I just got my shiny new E-Reader, stocked with one hundred free books! :squee:

LaVida 08-03-2010 07:53 PM

Risika>> what? 100???!!!! o.o whoa o.o

Iltu 08-03-2010 08:19 PM

Riskia- I'm not a fan of e-reader type things, but one hundred free books on it sounds amaziiiiing.

LaVida 08-03-2010 08:59 PM

Riskia>> how much did it cost?

Iltu>> lol, make ya wanna buy that e-reader thing just for the free books part, doesn't it? XD

RisikaFox 08-03-2010 09:17 PM

@La Vida: It was $119 plus tax through Borders.com, it came to a total of... $127? I think. US dollars, anyways.

@Iltu: I'm not a fan of digital media, period. But a lot of older books you can get for free, or very very cheap in digital versions. And I really don't have the space or money to buy as many books as I'd like, so it's nice. It's also convenient for traveling. ^^

And the free Ebooks were quite varied. Some excited me; like Alice in Wonderland, Dracula, Arabian Nights, and Aesop's Fables. But all in all, it was a very diverse selection.

LaVida 08-03-2010 09:39 PM

that's, like, a buck a book @[email protected]<----hah hah, what am I saying? I'm trying to collect all of the Merry Gentry books at 50 cents each XD

RisikaFox 08-03-2010 11:38 PM

xD But like I said, there's lots of other free books online that you can download onto it too, so it's cool. It also reads just about every ebook file type, unlike some other devices.

Dream_and_Die 08-03-2010 11:59 PM

:shrugs off the con funk:
I wonder where my books are? I wasn't able to find them all weekend at the convention. @[email protected] They should be somewhere in my suit case...

Free books

Also, for those who know about my puppy, she's better with the biting. xD Though she's still eating sticks, dirt, and trying to eat my books. -_-;; My bottom shevles might have to be cleared off. She is cuteness. <3

RisikaFox 08-04-2010 12:00 AM

O.O Maybe she just wants you to read to her? <3

Dream_and_Die 08-04-2010 12:10 AM

I try but she doesn't sit still yet. She has a limitless supply of energy. Like any child. XD

RisikaFox 08-04-2010 12:25 AM

Haha, yes, the energy is unlimited. xD My dog hasn't been a puppy for a looong time though. xD

SheWhoShallNotBeNamed 08-04-2010 03:05 AM

You read the twilight series with your class. I wish my english class was that awesome. I probably read 50 books already this summer :/. I read really fast and alot. I love this series called The Morganville Vampires. Just a suggestion if anyone is interested. Its not all gooey. Its alot of action but its a long series. There's like 9 or something books but worth it.
