I'm proud to say I read 20-odd pages of Michel de Certeau's The Writing of History. Actually, the book itself isn't bad, but the Translator's Introduction was clearly written by someone who was trying to show us how intelligent he was through vocabulary, rather than by writing someting insightful and coherent... Ugh. I hate dry academicism that has no reasoning behind it.

Hello~! Has anyone read any of the Sherlock Holmes stories? I've been slowly getting through them, they are more interesting than I thought they'd be.

Yes they are! I started reading them when I was eleven, which led me to get interested in a TV show called Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century.

I've read all of the "traditional" canon of Sherlock Holmes. I knew I'd probably enjoy them since I like old detective novels. ^^;

I havn't read any of them. I'm more of a fantasy or sci fi type myself but I'll try anything once so I think I'll see if the library might have one!

I think I've read one or two short Sherlock Holmes stories... In English class, perhaps? Not that we ever studied them... I read so fast/am easily bored by the stupid things teachers think are important that I usually ended up just reading the whole Literature book for the hell of it. xD
Also: I just started the Chronicles of Chrestomanci the other day, and it's really good so far. ^^ I actually went out and bought the second volume, because I have a feeling I'm going to just sit down and devour the first one all at once. >.>

@TaiyoTsuki- I didn't know they had a TV show for it o,0 It makes sense though, since its so well known
@Car'a'Carn- I tend to read the same! Whats your favorite fantasy book?
@KatMagenta- Thats what I started with, It comes in the collection of Sherlock Holmes. (Which is what I got =D) I loved the story at the end about what caused the crime to begin with. It was like it could of been its own stand alone short story. xDD
@Iltu- You should!
@RisikaFox- I would never have the patience to do that >>
(And yes I had to reply to everyone xDD)
They are definately worth it x3 I just finished The Sign of Four

@Beliar - I think my favorite would have to be the one fantasy book that started it all and that is the book by Piers Anthony, Castle Roogna. My brother actually read about half of it too me when I was much much younger (11 or 12 I think) and so a few months later I finished it by myself and then started reading all the books that Piers Anthony had. What's your favorite?
