@TaiyoTsuki
Oh no! Such a tragedy.

At least it's not a rare book. Hopefully you'll find it, but you can always pick up another copy at used book stores everywhere.

PapillonCameo 03-04-2011 02:18 AM

@Carn-Usually I don't read Star Trek books, but this one is really interesting! I might just have found a new series ...In the most unexpected place! lol This one is called Best Destiny by Diane Carey, and it's really good so far.FAst paced, but everything explains itself along the way.

Iltu 03-05-2011 08:05 PM

Yay, I finally finished The Faith Club! If you have any interest in or curiosity about religion, at all, even an eeeeeensy teensy bit, I totally recommend this book.
I just added about sixteen books to my to read list, most about one or more of the three major Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), one about the Arab-Israeli conflict, all from The Faith Club's bibliography. And I added the Idiot's Guides to Hinduism, Paganism, and Buddhism as well, because the Abrahamic religions are not all I'm curious about! I'm excited for my next trip to Half Price Books, to see if I can pick some of those up. :D

KatMagenta 03-05-2011 08:17 PM

Heh, looks like it's really caught your interest. Iltu.

I finished Frankenstein earlier so I'm going to reread Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency since I've been meaning to since the TV version. I hope they make a series of it.

Iltu 03-05-2011 08:29 PM

I've always had a fascination with religion, but the book gave me a really good starting point that made me want to actively pursue that interest, rather than passively, which is what I've been doing for several years.

How was Frankenstein? That's the next book I've got to read for school.

KatMagenta 03-05-2011 10:56 PM

I enjoyed Frankenstein. It would be interesting to look into it deeper but now I'm looking forward to the play. Most of the things that bothered me were more to do with Victor's actions than any faults of the book. It might have helped if I'd read Paradise Lost to get a few more of the references.

Iltu 03-06-2011 12:33 AM

Sounds good! Oof, wish I'd have had time to read Paradise Lost, then, but alas, I believe we're getting the book and beginning our reading on Monday. if that's not the case, I'll go pick up Paradise Lost! Or maybe I'll pick it up anyway and read the two simultaneously. ...On the other hand, that might be biting off more than I can chew.
What play is it? A stage adaptation of Frankenstein, or something more loosely based off of it?

KatMagenta 03-06-2011 12:56 AM

It's a live broadcast of the National Theatre's stage adaptation of Frankenstein. I wish I could see it in person but it's too far to travel when there are other options.

I wouldn't say it detracts at all if you haven't read Paradise Lost but it's mentioned by name on a couple of occasions and there are comparisons that can be drawn since it was one of Mary Shelley's influences.

This one? (I didn't make it disclaimery note) The Sword in the Stone is possibly one of my favourite Disney films.

I saw 'Arthur' and 'cup' and instantly thought of Arthur Dent. Might go make some tea...

PapillonCameo 03-06-2011 01:49 AM

Yup,that one! Arthur Dent from....Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

sweet windmelody 03-06-2011 01:50 AM

Yay Sword of the Stone. That movie was okay but it is interesting. >w< I read the Once and Future King and the Sword of the Stone is part of that.

@Papillon: Hey! Long time no talk. lol :)

PapillonCameo 03-06-2011 01:51 AM

Sweet- I know right! How are you?

sweet windmelody 03-06-2011 01:52 AM

I am good. Just busy with school work lately. But at least it's weekend now! XD What about you?

PapillonCameo 03-06-2011 01:59 AM

Just gave my two weeks notice at my job. I plan on making some watercolor paintings to sell to tourists during the summer at the Farmer's Market.

KatMagenta 03-06-2011 02:00 AM

That's the Arthur Dent, yip.

The Once and Future King is still sitting on my bookshelf wondering if it's doomed to follow me from place to place without me ever reading it.

sweet windmelody 03-06-2011 02:02 AM

@Kat: Lol. The Once and Future King is a require reading for my Language Arts class so I have to read it. I was procrastinating when I was reading it. It's really depressing and I almost give up on it. I felt so proud of myself when I finished that book.

@Papillon: Ohh that sucks, but good luck on your paintings! I wish I can have Art class next year.

By the way, both of your avatars are amazing!

KatMagenta 03-06-2011 02:09 AM

Heh, I bought The Once and Future King with a load of other second hand books last year. I know Iltu speaks highly of it and I'd had a couple of other people recommend it.

Thanks Sweet. You're looking rather festive. ^^

I'm off to bed now, it's late round these parts. Night!

sweet windmelody 03-06-2011 02:18 AM

@Kat: Thank you! Lol but I look more Christmas-ish than St.Patrick. XD

Goodnight! Lol Time difference still surprise me. I didn't eat dinner yet.

PapillonCameo 03-06-2011 02:35 AM

Thanks! And I don't mind really, since it just wasn't the place for me. I still managed to save a lot of money though,so that's great.

your avi looks very pretty, and christmacy.

sweet windmelody 03-06-2011 02:54 AM

Thanks Papillon! Lol though it's kind of too late for Christmas now. >w<

sweet windmelody 03-06-2011 04:31 AM

Lol I love your avatar Iltu!

MedievalBeauty 03-06-2011 07:02 AM

TaiyoTsuki 03-06-2011 07:53 AM
