I really want to find them. I found the second volume of MARS on eBay at some point, but I had no money at the time. Which is how it goes lol.
I'm sure they're out there somewhere...its finding them that's the problem...

How is everyone? Any good books you can recommend at this moment? I like romance, sci-fi, fantasy, occasionally history, and military based of the aformentioned genres.
Hmmm....Have you ever read The Handmaid's Tale? :)

The internet makes things easier to find because you've got search engines and stuff, but on the other hand, the internet has basically an unlimited amount of knowledge, so you could be looking for a very long time. X_X

Sweet- That's so cool! Wish my school did that.

Wheee, got some reading done over break! *dances* Still need to update my list, though. And according to Goodreads, I'm still 8 books behind on my goal. Nine books behind here, since I'm not counting one of the books I put onto my Goodreads. Time to pick up the pace!

it was annoying back then. We had the most boring trips to the library and the smallest and lamest collection to choose from

Y'know, elementary school probably is the best time to do this challenge. Books are shorter and usually don't contain chapters until you get older, most adults will still read to you in addition to getting your own books, and you aren't yet to the point of getting bogged down by literary theory. I'm pretty impressed with your old school!

Go Iltu Go!! :squee:

Taiyo - oh yuck :gonk: I hate writing papers :(

Hi there Sweet! (if it's ok to call you that)

Knerd - When I was a kid like preschool age I remember I was pretty quick to start reading. Then once I hit elementary school age I couldn't finish a book to save my life  after I was introduced to Calvin and Hobbes in 4th grade though I finally caught the itch

You guys, I finished The Lord of the Rings last night. (Sort of. I still have the appendixes to read through, but I've finished the actual Fellowship of the Ring through The Return of the King.) I'm happy to be done, I've been working on it since September, (taking a lot of breaks, mind!) but I'm also sad. A friend of mine told me her dad said he felt he'd lost a very dear friend when he finished after a year of working at it, I feel about the same. But there's plenty of other tales of Middle Earth on my bookshelf, waiting to be read. That cheers me up!

Anyway, now I'm reading The Resistance (the fourth book in The Fey series), and after that I'll read the fifth and final book of The Fey series, and then maybe The Canterbury Tales or Absalom, Absalom!. But we'll see, I always change my mind.

Sweet- Yay, glad you're taking part! ^^ Best of luck to you.

Taiyo- Oh boy, English papers. :gonk: Not fun! On what?

Thank you Car! :D

@ Iltu: Ancient Egyptian Mythology, focusing on the religion of it and trying to figure out if it is still practiced in the modern day.

Iltu - I know what you mean :( I hate reading the last of a book series and having all the wonderful characters you got to know go away.

On another note though, The Fey series looks really good!

Car- That's it precisely. There's always sort of an odd feeling that's a little bit sad when you finish a good book, but I think it's worst with series. :( You have so long to get know all the characters, and then suddenly you know the end of their stories and they're gone! I remember reading The Chronicles of Narnia in the fifth grade, and that was the first series I ever cried at the end of, just because I didn't want it to be over.

It is really good! I bought the first book at a library sale because it was 50 cents and I liked the cover. I got about halfway through before I went out and bought the rest of the series.

Me too :( I got that feeling after reading Harry Potter, and the Percy Jackson books, and I felt that way when I finished all of the Alex Benedict scifi novels by Jack McDevitt until I saw he came out with another one called ECHO! :P I think I just about jumped up and down  I don't think I've ever cried at the end of a series but near enough... Oh great! Look what you've started! >.<!

Ah! Gotta love Library sales! lol I get books based solely on the cover all the time :XD I'll have to give that one a try when I finish the Ranger's Apprentice book I'm reading now.

Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, the Bartimaeus books, The Night Angel trilogy, the Abhorsen trilogy... Definitely some other series books I'm forgetting, too! It happens a bit more often than I'd like! But at the same time I do like the feeling. It lets you know that your time was very well spent and that those characters now have a special place with you. I'll have to look those Alex Benedict books up. I love when authors come out with books once a series is over! I felt that way when Johnathan Stroud wrote a fourth Bartimaeus book. Oh goodness, I cry during books/at the end of series ALL THE TIME. I'm a sap. :tear:

I do too! And so often it's served me well. There's been plenty of times I've gotten books based on cover, and they've ended up being some of my favorites.
RANGER'S APPRENTICE
RANGER'S APPRENTICE
I LOVE those books! I've been reading them since 8th grade I think. I'm only on book six, though, I've fallen behind.
