Me? Oooh. I like horror (I love apocalypse stories - especially ones with bio-warfare and zombies), suspense, some romance fluff, fantasy, and some sci-fi. I guess some stuff that is considered young adult as well. And manga. Supernatural that isn't romance is okay sometimes too. Then there is some good non-fiction science stuff. I think that about sums up what I read.
Cool. I'm big into romance. Though I am starting to branch out into other things, like I've been reading the Resident Evil Series. Right now I'm on Nemesis, the fifth book. I also like manga as well.
Have you read the Ghostwalker series by Christine Feehan?
I'm just sort of getting into romance. I'm finding I prefer the supernatural stuff but... I'm thinking of looking at some historical ones too.
I haven't read the Resident Evil series but I read up on them. I'm very tempted... I'm not sure if my library carries them. Would you recommend them?
I haven't. I don't think I've even heard of it. Is it really good?
I think I had the first book read in a maximum of two days. I simply could not put it down. I don't think they would have them, but I could be mistaken. I know when I went into thrift shops and used bookstores, I only found 2 and 3. I have yet to try bigger chain stores. I just simply haven't gone to check. :P
The Ghostwalker series is pretty good. It's supernatural with kinda conspiracy thing going on.
Yep that's the first book. Generally, she writes them so that they can stand individually, but I find it much easier to understand when you read them in order. lol
I love that series. So many different layers to it.
lol, I'll have to check out World War Z, who's it by?
No, it doesn't follow a certain pair, each of the people have their own book, some even splitting off to completely different groups. But some do make an appearance in other people's books.
Oh, the Zombie Survival Guide is just fantastic! I keep meaning to read World War Z, I've just yet to get around to it. I didn't know the same person wrote them.
Cookie- IS it okay of I add you on Goodreads?
Iltu - WWZ is amazing. :) It's a series of stories "told" by different people chronicling the outbreak and beyond. How it starts in a remote, third world city, how it spreads, how people tried to survive, how people fought, etc. But it's handled so well, it sounds very realistic. Well, I mean, the zombie virus itself is inherently unrealistic, but the way humans reacted to it was done so well. I can't expand on that too much without spoiling. But definitely put it high up on your to-read list, it's a great book.
I once tried to listen to WWZ as an audiobook and I think that was a big mistake. There were just so many...sound effects.
I'll have to try that book again at some point in the future. The premise is so interesting and it sounds like the content it handled well, so I shouldn't let a little gross-out stop me from enjoying it. It's just the kind of book where you really don't want it to be that realistic.
If you're grossed out easily Knerd it could be too much. Some of the detail is graphic. I don't think it's too bad though. It does focus on specific people more than the zombies... I suppose. I haven't read it in a while.
Knerd - Oh dear. I didn't find the book to be too graphic. Due to the nature of the subject it is gross at times, but probably not as gross as with sound effects? I know it didn't bother me, but I don't know if I have stronger stomach than you.
There was just a lot of squelching and ripping and gushing. Not something that I really want to hear. Reading the gore probably wouldn't bother me, but actually hearing bones breaking was unpleasant.
Maybe I'll see if the local library carries it. I can always read the first chapter quick just to see how it sits with me.
Yeah, the sounds would definitely take some seems from "squeamy" too "hold on, I'm going to hurl."
Sounds good! If I could loan you my copy, I would, but... *taps book against monitor* my transportation device seems to be malfunctioning. I hope you enjoy it and don't end up getting too grossed out and hating me forever for recommending it.
Hehe, yes! But only if you be the Samwise to my Rosie? My garden is looking poorly. xD
...Update time! I recently finished The Fault in Our Stars, and I've added a few new books to my list!
Fever 1793 - Laurie Halse Anderson A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens The Help - Kathryn Stockett Harbor - Lorraine Adams To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee For Whom the Bell Tolls - Ernest Hemingway The Cement Garden - Ian McEwan
A few of these are old classics I've been meaning to read my entire life, and some are books I didn't know about until this year. I have NOT seen the movie of The Help, by the way. I definitely wanna read the book first. That's just how I roll. B)
