@Cherry: Would you recommend An Abundance Of Katherines?

I would! It definitely ranks as one of my favorite John Green books so far, if not my favorite (having trouble comparing it to my old favorite, Paper Towns, to determine a winner). It's funny and sweet and serious. The protagonist is even very relatable, which I found surprising. I wouldn't expect to relate to a child prodigy who has dated 19 Katherines, but he was very real. He was never written like a cliche. He was written like a 17 year old guy, which is good since that's what he is. Some of John Green's books seem to try a little too hard to be super profound (I liked The Fault in Our Stars, but sometimes I was just rolling my eyes at it for trying too hard), but AAoK always seemed very sincere. Of course it has a very heavy YA tone and can be a little silly, but I found it enjoyable and would definitely recommend it.

ooh! @Nobility I love Karen Marie Moning. It's been a while since I have read her books though.

I still have to put up my post for this year, haven't done it yet. I'll probably will do it tomorrow. I'm only doing sixty this year (I've got a ton of other things that I've got to do.) I do have about four or five books done already.

@Cherry: Thanks :) I was debating whether or not to get An Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns because I read the plot synopsises online and they didn't have the same sort of feel as Looking For Alaska and The Fault In Our Stars (and I adored those books). I might pick them up though :)

They do have a bit of a different feel, but I personally thought they were better. If you ever read them, let me know what you think!

Really? So glad I'm not the only one! But to be honest, the Highlander books bore me. I prefer the fever and dani series.

Wow, your doing 60? I'm only doing the 50! I've lost my reading habit... well no... I meant Ilost the habit of reading books. All I read now are fan fictions. DX

I'll order them when I get paid. :) I finished book number 4 today, I dunno what I'm going to move onto now though. I really want to re-read the Trainspotting series but my aunt has the first book (and my personal favourite) so... D;

@Nobility For 2012, I did eighty and was able to get it in in the nick of time. It's just that this year, I've got a ton of knitting projects to work on, lol, and I mean a ton! (Just tried to get a quick count on them all, and i know I'm leaving many out.) Plus I'm doing NanoWrimo and Camp NanoWrimo, and I'll be doing more than just participating.

Knitting is something that I've kinda put aside this past year. I don't think that I finished a single project. But that's okay, I've got quilts and other crafts to work on instead. It's just a shame, because knitting is so relaxing! Maybe later I'll clean out my closet and pull out some old yarn that's still sitting around. Making a hat or scarf wouldn't take too long.

Sad to realise it's really gone five months and I've read only seven books. D: + million fanfics and comics

20 Skein?

I'd like to take up knitting sometime, myself. I started to learn once, and the basic knit, purl was simple enough. I had some issues keeping my tension consistent and kept accidentally dropping stitches, but it wasn't anything I couldn't get the hang of pretty quickly. I just don't really have much time for it... But I loooove knitted things and I'd love to be able to make some for myself.

I managed to read A Single Man over a couple of days, mostly in coffee shops, and got some motivation to start Live and Let Die. Still amused by Fleming describing most of Bond's outfits (down to his socks) fan-fiction style. His suits are the new 'blak goffick corsette wif lace onit'.

Added what Flink is currently reading and removed Lolita from what she's planning to read. Flink isn't too keen on first person books. Except She's Come Undone.

Actually an X HandMade Project could be interesting. Flink keeps putting crocheting away, which is sad since she likes it. She's mostly proud she learned how, being left handed and all. Haha. Maybe a challenge would motivate her to do better. Not sure what would be a good number, though, for handmade items.

She thinks there's a thing in Facebook offering 5 things to the first five posters.

Hey, if anyone else feels like creating that challenge as a hangout thread here, I'd support it.
We've got so many crafters on the site, but it always seems tough to keep the conversation going.

I used to read alot during school, but, for some reason I have slowed down. What are some good fantasy books to read? I have read alot, but, I need something new that would be interesting. Anyone have suggestions? um just no dragon books please, I read all the dragon lance chronicles in my school during HS of my junior year and refuse to read anymore of them.

Aww, I like Dragonlance. I don't think I've really read a lot of pure Fantasy outside of the Forgotten Realms universe.

Is a knitting monkey a monkey that you knit, a toy monkey that is knitting, or a real monkey that helps you knit?

I'm hoping for the latter. Maybe it alerts you when you drop a stitch so you don't get halfway through the row before realizing it. It could also untangle yarn knots for you and let you know when your tension is getting inconsistent.

@Cherry: Oh wow, I never even realised that I wanted the latter until you mentioned it. That is all I need in life!

A knitting monkey is a toy monkey that you knit. It gives you the wool and the buttons and things and the pattern. :) I have a blue one.

At any given point in a James Bond novel you will know exactly what James Bond is wearing and exactly what he last ate and drank. Or you can ask for your money back. I think.
