I read alot of different genres. and i drop into mysteries when i'm clueless what to read next. I like the brain puzzles in them.

The case of the chocolate eclairs or something like that was the book I was missing.

TaiyoTsuki 09-15-2016 06:13 PM

That sounds like a baker-turned-detective novel XD

zigbigadorlube 09-16-2016 04:29 PM

I just started my 39th book today.

TaiyoTsuki 09-17-2016 06:20 PM

You can do eet Ziggy!

I'm on 35 right now.

Shadami 09-17-2016 07:55 PM

TaiyoTsuki 09-17-2016 08:23 PM

*patpats Shadami*

Shadami 09-27-2016 11:50 AM

I should make an actual list :3

TaiyoTsuki 09-28-2016 07:57 PM

That might help ^^

On the upside I'm down to less than twenty books in my challenge.

Shadami 09-28-2016 10:41 PM

Wooo congrats!!! what was the actual time frame to read 50 anyways?

Eastriel 09-29-2016 09:47 AM

Okay, So I have a problem and I need some help.
I love books, I love stories and I have a large collection of books.
But what I'm really struggling with is reading. This issue has been going on a couple of years now. I just really struggle to focus on a book, I find it hard sometimes to read and take in the story on the page. I get part way through a book and then don't pick it up again. I also struggle to keep my mind quiet and not thinking or worrying of other things.
Any ideas on how I can make it a bit easier on myself?

P.s. I have an anxiety disorder, so sitting in silence reading isn't hugely an option as I have the TV volume on low to create background noise.

TaiyoTsuki 09-30-2016 08:38 PM

@ Shadami: a year. I started my challenge 10 Jan this year.

@ Easty: Audiobooks, maybe? That way you can listen to them as you do other stuff, too, and you still get the story [yes].

Eastriel 10-01-2016 06:10 PM

I may try yes! I am a more visual person though, and often I find that the people reading the books have a horrific voice! However if you want a good listen Lolita read by jeremy irons is incredible!

TaiyoTsuki 10-01-2016 06:11 PM

I'll remember that.

....and I just pictured Scar reading Lolita [XD]. Okay, time to get that giggle-worthy image out of my head XD

Maybe it would help to read regularly but in short segments? Like make it a before bed ritual to read a couple pages?

Eastriel 10-03-2016 09:21 AM

Yeah zig, that used to be my thing - I think I might try it again. :)

Taiyo - For me, the thing I know his voice from is the Borgias where he played the pope! :D

TaiyoTsuki 10-06-2016 06:55 PM

Whatever works the best ^^.

Easty: ...that rings no bells for me *flop*

Eastriel 10-06-2016 07:14 PM

Awhh the borgias is such a good series i highly recommend.

TaiyoTsuki 10-06-2016 07:53 PM

Is it a book series?

Eastriel 10-07-2016 07:01 AM

Oh no, TV series, was originally on sky atlantic :)

TaiyoTsuki 10-07-2016 09:10 PM

Ah. I'm going to assume that's a cable channel XD

Connielass 10-08-2016 03:17 AM

I'm not really into the Borgias. I'm big into the actual history of it all, but.. the HBO/sky atlantic show. . . not so much.

Eastriel 10-09-2016 05:46 AM

I really respect the commitment to authentic imagery, the budget was huge and that's what lead to the shows down fall, ironically similar to the actual borgias xD

Shadami 10-11-2016 12:27 PM

It might not hurt to borrow the audio books from the library of the books you're reading. if they exist. that way you can read along and have it sink in at least. and it may create the background noise you need?

Eastriel 10-11-2016 02:22 PM

Yeah, audio books can be expensive though which is the shame, we dont seem to get many in charity shops which is where 95% of my books come from. ;-;

Shadami 10-11-2016 06:04 PM

oh that's why i suggested the library. do you have a local one?
