Lol. xD But she's nice, so I don't really think it's something I should worry about. =P
Anyhow, to get back on topic... what sort of books are you into? You did mention that erotic novels aren't your thing a while ago. :3 |
Haha when I was a kid I used to sneak my Mom's romance novels off her bookshelf and read them. I'm pretty sure I knew I did it. XD
For some reason when I was a younger I really liked them. I still have some because I never returned my favorites back to her (She still haves tons of them. There are probably 500+ of those things in her house). They're good books to read when I'm bored and want a good laugh. |
I used to love the cheesier romance novels when I was younger too. xD Probably when my whole "hopeless romantic" thing started. xD
And yes, they're always a good laugh when you need them. :3 To me, they're sometimes even stress-relievers when you've had a long and rough day, and all you need is something light-hearted to read. xD And woah, 500+ books? =O That's a lot. =| I'm assuming she's a book collector? xD |
*eyes unsteady book piles wearily* I probably have about that many. And not enough shelf space.
I like horror books a lot. Mysteries, psychological trillers...anything depressing or creepy, I'm into. XD;; My favourite author is Stephen King, and one of my favourite books is The Dark Light, which is probably one of the most depressing books I've ever read (but at the same time, also one of the happiest O_o). |
*eyes her own pile* I pale in comparison. xDD
And ohh, I see. :3 I've actually never read any Stephen King novels. =O I dunno, maybe it's cause I still have a new pile of books to read that I wanna tackle before I try buying some more. xD Oh, but The Dark Light sounds interesting, from the way you describe it. It's got me curious. =P |
It's a really good book. It takes place in the...19th century, I belive, and is about a girl who contracts lepresy.
I've been reading Stephen King since I was a kid. X3 I love his stuff. |
Ohh, I see~ Cool. :3 I'll be sure to check it out once I finish my own pile. xD
And really? When I was a kid, I only read stuff like The Babysitter's Club and The Berenstein Bears. xDD |
I loved the Babysitter's Club. ^^ That and The Boxcar Children, but I grew out of those pretty quickly.
|
I never heard of The Boxcar Children, to be honest. >.>; But, I stayed with those types of books or a year or so. I used to borrow them from the school's library. xD
It wasn't till around high school when I started expanding my reading list. I mostly tried out different series and genres to see which ones I enjoyed the most. Although, till now, I still haven't found a solution to that question. xD |
XD Seriously? I've never known anyone who didn't know the Boxcar Children! It was a cute series. :3
I learned to read when I was really young (before I started kindergarden) and have always been at a higher reading level, so I go through things pretty fast. Lately though, I haven't had time to read D: It makes me sad. |
Really? They didn't have them in my library back then, so that could be the reason why I never heard of it. xD
I also went through kindergarden (and even a preschool before that), so like you, I learned to read pretty fast. =O But, I was more of a drawing person than a reader when I was a kid, so I guess that's why I don't have a lot of "reading experience", or at least I only started reading more later on in my life. xD And really? That sucks. =( I have the same problem. =\ Only now, I'm on break, so I finally have time to finish the book I'm currently reading. 8D |
*looks at post* XD Oh, woops. That was supposed to say "before", not "because". My parents taught me to read.
I like to draw, too. :D And sew, though I'm not very good at it. I take six classes--three at high school, three at the local community college--so I'm pretty bogged down. X_x |
Ohh, I see. =O My parents didn't really teach me to read as much. They mostly taught me how to do puzzles. xD But that's beside the point. =P
And yay! Another artist~ :3 Sewing? Not for me. D: I like to write though. ;] And ohh, I see. =O I wish you good luck on that then. :3 School can be real tiring. x_x |
D: It is. I like to write as well...I'm currently working on this stupid story for creative writing that was actually due yesterday X__X It's too long. I don't know what to do to cut it down.
|
Ohh, I see. =O Hmm... since I don't know what the story is, I can't really help. D: But umm... maybe you could shorten lengthy descriptions? Maybe even cut down on some dialogue? I hope your story goes well though~ :3
|
XD I already did all that. The plot is just too complicated...But I don't want to write another story.
Oh, jeeze, it's late. I need to get to bed. :D Night! |
Awws, okay then~ Night! =D Hope to chat with you soon. :3
Now... *waits for her list to be added* 8D |

I think they just pass off as teens because they have the bodies of teenagers and they get really bored just sitting at home all day, so school gives them something to do, even if they've learned it all already (I've thought about this extensively xD) Edward is sort of moody, but it's not totally in a teen way. And he is "dark and mysterious" in the first book. After that, since it's from the perspective of his girlfriend and all, and she spends every waking second with him, he becomes a little less mysterious. xD |
...I have to say...I hated Edward >> I thought he was a really poorly developed character. He was so shallow and one-dimensional. Like in the last book, what I enjoyed most was that Bella and Jacob got some added depth to them, but Edward never stopped being a cardboard cutout of a character.
|
Yeah, Edward never got too much development, despite all of his screen time.
BD made me totally LOVE Jake, though. I liked him before, but BD made me love him. He's just so cool and real. He's the most real character in the series, if you ask me. xD He has real drive and motivation. The stuff he says isn't said just because it's convenient to the plotline, AND HE ISN'T CONDESCENDING. God, all the vampires are really condescending. o_o Sure, Bella's the "naive human child" or whatever, but jeez, treat her like a bit more if you like her so much! ESPECIALLY EDWARD. GOD. TREAT YOUR GIRLFRIEND LIKE AN EQUAL FOR HALF A MINUTE, WILL YOU? |
Well I like Alice and Esme a lot. D: I didn't find Esme at all condescending. Alice was a bit, and...oh jeeze, I always forget these two names. XD Um...the blonde and...Emmet! Emmet wasn't really condescending so much as teasing. And the blondie was just a betch. Jasper wasn't around enough to be condescending. >>
I hated Jacob in Eclipse. He was so like...."KISS ME! *attackrapelove*". It was annoying. The worst, though, was Edward in New Moon. God, what the hell was his problem?! My friend and I joke about that book, saying, "The best part was when Bella wasn't talking." |
Wo-hoo! I finished God Grew Tired of Us. Even though I'm not religious anymore the book was still a good read. On to Twilight if I can get my hands on it..
|
Yeah, Esme was okay. Not that she ever talked that much. She was motherly, but not in a condescending patronizing way. Alice was fine at first, but after a while she sort of started to become a caricature of herself.
Rosalie was also over exaggerated. Emmett... meh, whatever. He was barely there, except to make a few vague innuendos in BD and to be muscly when there was a fight. Yes, Jake did piss me off in Eclipse. The manipulation thing made me dislike him for a while until BD came out. And yes, Edward in new moon = whut? "I EXPOSE YOU TO DANGER SO I'M GOING TO RUN AWAY AND DEPRESS YOU AND LEAVE YOU UNPROTECTED IN THE NAAAAME OF LOOOOOOVE." |
Seriously. XD "I did it so you'd be safe!"
WTF? Then he goes all suicidal. DX IDIOT. |

And The Babysitter's Club. xD Quote:
