Grammar and punctuation corrections are not a matter of opinion, Guivre. =/ It's knowledge, and an eye to see them better than others. It's not just my opinion whether there should be an apostrophe in "its" or not.

Who am I? I'm an English-speaking American who cares about correct usage of the English language enough to notice when someone has made a mistake that doesn't seem situational (like little typos) and let them know about it in case it's a habitual thing that may diminish their appearance to people that matter, like employers, teachers, and maybe colleagues that can broaden their network. I think it's rude of you to ignore me when I simply wanted an explanation behind your OPINIONATED statement. But I'll drop it since your reason seemed to be a wrong one. Corrections for language mistakes are not opinions.

Part of it's knowledge to know how to work out the proper grammar and punctuation and the other is how well your mind understands how to do it.

I have a hard time and try my damnest to get my grammar and spelling to look right. Sometimes I like help and other times it hurts to be shown how bad it is and how much I wish my mind could warp it's self around and understand words, but that it does not.

The way I see it coming off as rude is that it shows be judgmental and self imposing. I can understand help but sometimes said help is not warranted and not wanted, therefor being seen as rude and self-imposing.

@Thoth that sucks being fired your job. I may be in the same boat soon.

DeLish 01-27-2009 05:36 AM

Well, I need a job! My mom is about to cut me off from her funds! I need monaaay!

FeyonaSaibre 01-27-2009 01:58 PM

SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER!!!

((Sorry... the people that have issues are listing about 20 different problems all at the same time.))

Bilbo 01-27-2009 04:53 PM

Ugh, good luck to everyone that are looking for jobs...it's NOT an easy time right now.

FeyonaSaibre 01-27-2009 04:53 PM

Yeah... I should be looking for a new job. I'm so lazy though and the economy is so bad...

Bilbo 01-27-2009 05:03 PM

The economy is terrible. The university I work at is cutting so many jobs and having to close so many of our 'extras'. It's really sad to see things like our art museum go away. I need a second job to make ends meet, and no one's hiring, I can't even imagine trying to look for a full-time job right now.

Thoth Star 01-27-2009 05:28 PM

G'morning peoples~

Yeah, our College is doing the same Bilbo...
Plus, there's probably going to be less grants now...
But our school is making a new building for us medical students, I'm soo happy about it! XD
Sadly, the building isn't going to be done for another 2 yrs and I'll probably have moved by than. D:

AkashaHeartilly 01-28-2009 04:31 AM

I was thinking of going back to school, but I just dont think it will happen.
I'm hoping to get this job I had an interview for but it was annoying how long they took. They asked me to come in for a few minutes to fill out an app and then talk for a few. That apparently meant to give up my entire afternoon.

FeyonaSaibre 01-28-2009 01:01 PM

When searching for a job... I've always adopted the strategy... "Treat your job search like it was a full time job." That means spending at least 40 hours a week doing whatever it takes. If that means going to interviews or filling out applications or whatever. *shruggs* Beside when I was expecting my son I've only ever been jobless for ONE DAY. Because since I started working... back in *cough*2001*cough* I always made sure to look for a new job back when I had my old one. And when I couldn't... I found the quickest place that would give me a job and worked on that salary until I found a better one.

Bilbo 01-28-2009 06:41 PM

Akasha, that's tough, I hope you get the job though! What is it?

Thoth, it's really tough to be in a situation like this--academia always seems like such a world set apart from reality, it's difficult when we're being hit so hard.

jecynecy 01-28-2009 07:19 PM

Hello!

Thoth Star 01-28-2009 07:29 PM

@akasha: Yeah that sucks. I've had employers do that to me before, but I've always had ones that hired me right on the spot and had me working later that day... I think it all depends how large the company is and how desperate they are for people. XD Haha. Right now there's so many unemployed people that companies get their pick of the most-experienced people!

@feyona: You're totally right... When I do that I get a job pretty quickly.
Its gonna be sad leaving my poor run-down apartment... oh well.
That is indeed a good strategy!

@bilbo: Mhmm... The economy is hit hard and now in response Colleges are cutting corners.... Like I still haven't received my chemistry textbook cuz the people at the college are just sitting on their bloody thumbs. ><

Hello jecy~

FeyonaSaibre 01-28-2009 08:04 PM

Well my parents raised me to be uber responsible on that front. I'm kinda happy they did. I think I'd go crazy if I didn't have a regular job. When I sit at home too much I tend to get listless and start calling every one of my friends asking them if they want to get together and do something.

DeLish 01-28-2009 11:18 PM

I try to go to the RAC at my college since I pay for it and do some of the Group Fitness things. Other than that, I'm on the computer. I have a job, but it's practically part time, and we only get paid 140 bucks a month.

Thoth Star 01-29-2009 12:39 AM

Hahaha I get like that sometimes, feyona... So bored that I just randomly go around hanging with random people. XD

Oh thats a bummer, Delish...

FeyonaSaibre 01-29-2009 02:45 AM

Well most of my friends are busy...the ones that aren't either work opposite schedules from me or live over an hour away.

FeyonaSaibre 01-29-2009 03:28 AM

Huskies!! *clings to Tiger*

AkashaHeartilly 01-29-2009 06:36 AM

I want a husky! They are my favorite dogs!
I also want a long haired corgi, they look like a muppet.

Vickicat 01-29-2009 07:36 AM

Hi.

Hi Tiger! You're friends with Urboros, right? :)

tigerangel 01-29-2009 01:59 PM

Thank ya'all.
The huskies are sleeping on the carpet, right behind my desk now.
They are such big, furry babies.

@Vickicat
Yes I am.
Your name seems familiar too. :)

Thoth Star 01-29-2009 05:22 PM

If I could get a dog... I'd want a greyhound so we could go running together in the mornings. xD

If any of you guys were on Gaia in 03 we've probably talked... haha.
I was so bored that yr and post the crap out of gaia. Lol.

Bilbo 01-29-2009 05:29 PM

Awwww huskies! I would love to have one, but they need so much exercise, I would probably only get one if I had a big backyard or extra time on my hands.
