It's an abscess from another cat biting him. I've been medicating it with Neosporin, and it's slowly going away. It's about 1/4 of the size it had been. Thanks for asking. (:

I"m glad to hear it. I have a cat that got so sick she ended up with a feeding tube in her and we thought she may not pull through. She's doing fantastic now and will be getting the tube out soon. So I totally feel for you and your kitty.

While we're on the subject of cats: My boyfriend and his roommate just got a kitten about a month ago.
The #1 problem I'm concerned about: The kitten is really, really attached to my boyfriend, to the exclusion of his roommate, who gives equal care and attention to her.
2: She's beginning to be up at ungodly hours of the night, wanting to play and waking them both up when they need to sleep.
3: She attacks any and everything.

Is there any way to curb any of these behaviors that you might know about?

I'm glad your cat's getting better. I'd be a mess if my cat were that sick. I love him like a baby.

@Connie - When I first got my cat, he was very wild. He wanted to play all night and was really aggressive, as in attacking anything that came near him and hissing at everyone. I started closing him off in one section of the house at night. Now, he's much more calm and knows that when it's dark outside, it's time for us to sleep. So, he goes off and does his own thing in other parts of the house or lays quietly at the end of my bed. He still doesn't really trust anyone but me, but I guess that's just his nature. He no longer hisses or attacks.

Umm.. I should have learned by now to clearly state things...
I meant that the kitten play-attacks. She's not vicious, she doesn't seriously mean to hurt, just...
She attacks my shoes, she attacks (more understandably) the beads that hang off my anklet, she'll attack my fingers for the heck of it. But she never hisses or bites hard. She's at that stage, you know?
Do you think closing her off at night would help? I'm a bit hesitant to suggest something like this because of problem 1. When my boyfriend is out of the house, the kitten will sit there either in his room or in the hallway to the front door, and meow for hours on end until he gets home. She might do the same if she were removed from him during the night.

shutting her out of the room or in a bathroom is the best way to teach her how to not attack you at night. We have a new kitten here and have to do the same thing. You can't stop the meowing but it will get better.

Hello everyone. Sometimes that's just kitten behavior and they will grow out of it.However you might teach it boundaries or give it toys to tackle.

Good luck to training the new kitty!

I'm lucky that my girlfriend's cats are already pretty well trained, especially now that I'm living there.

Okay, so now she's got three new balls to play with (along with my fist, for whatever reason.:|)
Now if only she wouldn't stay up at ungodly hours of the night to chase some damn fly.... which decided to hover over me most of the time .... which made her pounce on me and wake me up so many times I was ready to throw her across the room, much as I love her.

UGH!! One of my cats (can I call them mine now that I moved in?) like to sleep on us. Randomly in the middle of the night he'll get uncomfortable wherever he happens to be and decide that it's time to use us as a pillow.

Yesterday I found a tick on my leg. ewww. >< I hate ticks, especially the black legged ones cuz they have hard backs so you can't simply squish them... you have to like burn them. *shivers*

ewwww, that totally sucks Thoth. I live in the woods now, so I'm sure I'm going to find at least a couple ticks this summer (I've been in the city the last 2 years).

At least you found the bugger--the ones that cause Lyme Disease are almost impossible to spot because they are so small they look like freckles.

I can't stand ticks. You should buy some Frontline for dogs or cats and just put a drop on one when you find it. That should kill it.

*nod* Well just be careful bilbo... always check yourself after going on a walk...
Yeah, he was a big tick... A small tick like a freckle would be even worse. ><

Hmm good idea gemini.

On another note... today's weather has been weird. First started raining this morning and now its sunny and hot...

It seems that way to me too. It seems like this topic goes a few days with no posts.

I don't know - it's one of my fav threads but can't double-post again or else I'll get busted again. If I'm going to be naughty I'd rather do it in a way that would be beneficial instead of the opposite.
