speaking of extra ways of earning gold on lazy days, i suggested that we get a small amount of gold for the first pm or profile comment we make each day.. but it was shot down without any discussion at all.

this mistook my suggestion as handing out gold for EVERY pm and profile comment which really dissapointed me as it wasn't what I was going for at all :(

Who mistook your suggestion? The mods/admins, or the general community? Sometimes I get the feeling that the admins here want you to make as little gold as possible. x_x The ways of making gold are very limited in the first place, and then most of the rules on this site seem to revolve around preventing people from earning more gold. And then they implemented this new layout stuff and I think they made it so you make even less gold now when posting. Plus they no longer tell you how much gold you have earned after each post so it's like they're trying to hide the fact that you might be receiving less gold than before.

I've owned many a forum in my day and I dislike spammers as much as the next person. I wouldn't suggest something if I thought it promoted that and giving a small amount of gold for the first pm and profile comment a day would not promote spamming as a - it would only be like.. 5 gold or so and b - you could only get it once a day. So it would be pointless to try and spam those areas.

I felt completely miffed on that thread.

Did they lock that thread or you gave up?
I saw it, I'm not sure I commented though... seemed everyone was happy to not earn more gold.

@vickicat: It really does seem that they want us to earn as little gold as possible. In one thread there is 'how to earn gold' and in another there is rules stating what you can't do in case you would get extra gold.
I don't see the problem with earning a little more... excessive amounts is wrong but whats the problem with earning a little more.

I'm sure the people that buy CI's and sell them each month probably have much more gold than everyone too so... wheres the problem in earning a little more legitimately?

Out of curiosity I just looked for your thread and found it. The only people who answered were mods of some sort, the normal members of the community did not even get a chance to state their opinions because they locked it. And I see they were very rude to you except for the last one who posted. The first two were extremely rude in my opinion though. It pisses me off. I've found that a lot of the mods on this site are extremely rude at times which is one of my biggest complaints about this site. And the whole thing regarding the gold and worrying about it to the point that they can't even consider giving gold for comments, even just one a day, is one of the major reasons why I'll always favor Gaia over this site. It's so much more laid back there and you get gold for nearly everything you do. Being that I have more incentive on that site to participate in it, that is where most of my time is spent. It's a pretty logical concept.

Come on guys, give the staff a break. They are working very hard to make this a great place to hang out.

yeah, they were incredibly rude, i just wasn't going to mention that fact and they locked the thread before anyone, including myself, could even add in their opinions which I found to be unfair.

Even if they don't like an idea they should at least let the members discuss what they think about it rather than saying 'nope, don't like it!' and locking it straight away. It wasn't fair to me and it wasn't fair to the community either as they never even got a chance to voice their opinions on the subject.

I hate the post locking and thread moving :(
I had a post in Life Issues closed because I didn't ask for advice... is it required to ask for advice in there? I never realised, I thought it would be discussing life issues... do I need to have something wrong with me to post there? hmph!

i know, i see a lot of posts shut down that shouldn't be simply because they don't a - like the topic b - think there's no discussion or c - who knows??

it seems to me that they just glance at posts before closing them without giving the community as a whole the chance the participate.

maybe that's just how i'm seeing it though?

Well maybe you haven't been treated unfairly by the staff but I have, and I've seen it happen too many times to other people as well.

Exactly, I'm sure they're not all like this, it's just some of them that I've seen around. I've been on this site for over a year now and I didn't really notice these things until somewhat recently. But then I don't always pay attention either until things involve me, then I look around and see what happens to others as well.

And thank you! I worked my butt off during the event to get most of these items. XD

running off before you say something you shouldn't? why would have something mean to say to begin with, we aren't bashing the staff or being mean we're simply discussing some issues we've had and are having with a few of them. that doesn't mean we hate the staff or don't support them, just that we wish a few things were different ;)

Honestly, I don't see where you have been treated unfairly. I can see their point on gold earning and how it's abused everywhere else. They want you to work for it and it's a nice way to meet new people from all parts of the world. What's wrong with that?

I don't think it's so much about earning gold. Yes, it is quite hard. I kinda wish lurking got you a little bit of gold because I tend to lurk through threads unless I'm really interested in them.

For me, it's more the thread moving or locking which sometimes isn't justified (e.g. Comotized posts)... we're not saying ALL staff either, just SOME staff.

I like earning my gold via posting, i actually agree with it but I do think we need a little more than just posting to get gold. Hence the reason I suggested the gold for the first pm and profile comment per day.

We'd still be posting and participating but since it would only be a small amount (say 3 - 5 gold depending on how long the post/pm was) it would deter spammers and trolls from attempting to abuse the system.

and I agree I wasn't treated unfairly in the declining of my suggestion but i WAS treated unfairly with the negative mannor in which is was declined.

I also feel the topic should have been left open to see what other members thought about it rather than being closed without further ado.

I am in no way bashing the staff members or even speaking negativily about them. There's no question in my mind the amount of work they put into menewsha as a group. I just wish they wouldn't close things so quickly sometimes.

Hello everyone. It's been a hot humid weekend here so I've been away from the computer trying to stay cool. Ended up with a migraine today so I didn't go into work either.
