Ah, in that case...my dad is lucky if he turns his computer on 2 times a month--and once a month is me coming over to make sure everything is up-to-date!!

Lokis 08-26-2008 07:42 PM

Yes that would make it alot easier on a router, two of my computers are online 24 7 365, unless we loose power, which has happened but not often. I have alot of traffic, so wear and heat so on and the elements just wear out, this poor lap top im on right now, Ive had it a year this month and ive already worn of the A,S and C from the keyboard.

You are a computing MACHINE!!!

roocee 08-26-2008 08:09 PM

Lokis 08-26-2008 08:23 PM

My laptop is like that too, about half the letters are rubbed off the keyboard.

Urboros 08-27-2008 01:54 AM

I have a grease mark on my space bar but that is it.

LOL Im not a computing machine Im just a network technician, so I have to type often, the keys I use more take the abuse! Im headed off for the night rest well when you get there all.

roocee 08-27-2008 01:47 PM

My keys here at the office have smooth surfaces for so much use. They keyboard at home is the one with keys worn off.

EternalHearts 08-27-2008 02:31 PM

I guess I just don't type that much--my keys are all still in perfect condition--relatively anyway--I know there are all sorts of crumbs and suck in the keyboards form eating at my desk.

Urboros 08-27-2008 04:28 PM

Woot, for crumb buffet keyboards!
I have cat hair in mine, which is odd cause my cat hates the computer.

Lokis 08-27-2008 05:41 PM

My cats love my computer keyboard, so does my Iguana, I never know what they are going to do to my computer!

I have crumbs in my keyboard too, it's gross. Especially because when I close up my computer and take it with me, when I open it again crumbs have gotten on the screen and stuff. x_x I once tried to vacuum my keyboard but it didn't really work.

shades_of_grey 08-28-2008 04:49 AM

I wish I knew how to clean out the keyboard of my laptop, it isn't designed for easy cleaning, and is something's under there, I'll know because a key gets stuck.

Yeah I wish they would make keyboards easier to clean.

Lokis 08-28-2008 12:59 PM

I just use canned air to blow them out my keys are inset, I used the mini dust buster to suck it out like once a month But don't be special and bright like I was, I used a big vacuum once, sucked a key right off the pad LOL

roocee 08-28-2008 01:30 PM

Canned air is great by my IT guy told me not to do that because it can damage the keys.

Lokis 08-28-2008 04:38 PM

Ive never had that problem but I have had a few vacuum issues LOL

EternalHearts 08-28-2008 06:26 PM

I've never had issues with the canned air on my work keyboard, but I've never tried it for my laptop--I'm too nervous about messing it up.

LOL! When I tried to vacuum my keyboard I used the big vacuum but I used one of the hose things with an attachment on the end. It didn't suck any keys off my keyboard but it really didn't suck the crumbs out from underneath the keyboard either. I've considered pulling my keys off to vacuum under them but I'm too lazy to pull them all off and then put them back on, plus I'm afraid they'll get lost or broken or something. XD

roocee 08-28-2008 10:57 PM

I would be afraid to attempt to pull the keys off.

Lokis 08-29-2008 12:07 AM

Ive pulled them off to replace them on my laptop, they have a bitty clip and a sucker thingy, on them thats no big deal, but only one or two at a time ive never replaced them all some arent used often. But there are replacements for them, tiger direct is a good place to look if you need them.
