Lol, the title of this reminds me of my friend & co-worker Jane. She does a lot of crafty things, and really likes knitting & crocheting. She is part of a Yarn-Bombing Committee and took part in National Knit-In-Public Day. Her and some of her crafters get together weekly and knit or crochet downtown, they call it 'Hooking' and sometimes joking refer to themselves as 'Hookers' xD
Thank you! The scarves are actually just a basic knit pattern that comes on the back of the ball of yarn's wrapping paper. :3 You just cast on about 8 - 10 stitches, depending on how big / long you want the scarf to be and just knit as normal with only the top row of the strands.

Ha, they might have got that from the same book series I took this title from. The crochet manual is called Stitch N Bitch: The Happy Hooker. :lol:

If this hangout stays active, there's all sorts of fun challenges and craft exchanges we could get going! With even a dozen people willing to participate, we could always do a quilt block swap. It's easier than making a whole quilt by yourself and usually has some interesting/fun/crazy results. :lol:
I want to learn how to make a t-shirt quilt. But I don't know how to sew at ALL. I have a billion tshirts from highschool and college that just sit there so if I could make a quilt out of them - they would be used a lot more!
I have a ton of clothes that no longer fit, or are tatty now, and could be made into something. T-shirt fabric stuff, polished cotton stuff, and knitted stuff. Those intentions that I have, would have comforty things made from all 3...one day :lol:
I saw this quilt tutorial, and it's what I intend to do. But I want it to be fully reversible, not just a plain colour on the back.
I'm going to lurk in this thread for inspiration and motivation. I can't sew or knit, but I'd really like to. I have a bunch of clothes that need mild alterations (pants and skirts that need hemming, shirts that need to be taken in), and I have access to my mom's huge collection of yarns and knitting needles. I just need to get around to actually trying. :ninja:
I can sew but i'm relearning a lot of things. I'm glad Mene has a thread like this. It makes me happy. I just wish more people would post projects! I would love to see things other people made! I shall post things when I get home. :)

I do and I try not to buy too much of anything (anymore) so I can save money up. XD Sometimes it's even better to wait until we send out coupons to the public because they're better than the employee discount.
Love that blue jean quilt and that dress! I'll have to wait until tomorrow to take pictures of my stuff for better lighting. I got home later than I intended.
I actually made a small quilt when I was 13, but then took part of it apart a few years ago cos I thought that part of it was shoddily done, and I've never gotten back to it. :sweat:

Yeah, go for it, Maria. It looks pretty simple really, and individual squares can be built up slowly. Just sewing the whole thing together that would be fun once the body of it got big.
I literally have hundreds of tshirts from over the years - so something like that could fit all of them. A lot of tshirt quilt tutorial like to use only 12 shirts and make big squares and not use the other side for squares - this could be a lot of fun :D
An excellent project for autumn, then, as the quilt gets larger the weather colder, you can cover yourself with it as you sew :ninja:
If you read the comments on that tutorial, one lady said she makes that kind of quilt with layers of flannel instead of wadding inside. So each square gets more than two layers of edging to fray. If you have that many t-shirts, you could make each square up from multiple layers of them, saving the better pieces for the outside squares, and using the other bits to plump the squares up, the joins would look very cool then, as they'd be many layered and multi-coloured :D
