I might pick one from the manga to follow - her main dress has the crest on her chest, between the shell cases, but I particularly like the tassles on the sleeves and hem. : ) A little more detailed. I'd have a great time frustrating myself with the crest. Plus, there's her chaps/shin-guard type things. Or even her finalfinal outfit, which is the deepest blue, dyed by... I think it's the blood of the crypt, but it may be Ohma. I'll have to re-read. @[email protected] It would make sense if it were the crypt. It'd be quite simple to make as well, though she wears a cloak I'm not sure of the colour of, and a hat with it. It's very emblematic.

^ ^; But I don't know if I'll ever get to a convention.

I wouldn't mind, in my ideal world, doing Sakura costumes either. xDDD

Mmm... Yeah, the manga stuff is indeed pretty.

If I recall correctly, the blue came from Ohmu blood, at least in the movie. I've actually never read the manga, just seen some of the artwork.

*nods* That's right. The baby Ohmu bleeds on her, and turns her dress blue.

But in the mangas, the same people who made the Ohmu and the forest made a crypt, with... well, I wouldn't want to spoil the story. But the crypt is similarly alive, and has a deeper blue blood. (Or it's a God Warrior's... I can't remember.)

I like blue clothes, so...

*Quick Reminder*

The contest for a banner was originally going to end tomorrow, but I'll be extending the deadline (seeing as how we have no entries at the moment).

If you plan on entering, get to it! I'm sure you guys can come up with something cool, so find a friend who'd like to have their work displayed.

I'll be up in Chico this next Saturday for a fencing competition. :o

Closest one to you is Stitches West then. It's in the Santa Clara convention center, so about three hours south of you at least. It's already happened this year so you'll have to wait for a while until you can go to another one. Don't think there are any other ones I know of in this area.

Other then wal mart around here to get yarn there are only little fabric shops that charge and arm and a leg for their fabrics. >.< It drives me crazy. But hasn't gotten too bad yet since I don't own a sewing machine...yet. >.>
I started Crochetting last Christmas since I got a little DIY thing from my husband. <3 So far I have made...one scarf XD And about half of a second one. I haven't had time to do anything else yet. *sigh*

On a side note and completely unrelated to the main topic...

From one swordswoman to another, may your feet be light and may your blade strike true. Good luck!

Kitty: I don't think there are many busses (if any) which go from where you are down towards where the convention is going to be. So I think you may just need to coerce one of your friends to also go or something so that you can hitch a ride.

Berzerker: Thanks. I did quite well there. 3rd out of 11 in unrated mixed foil, losing to one of my club-mates (we took first through 7th with the exception of another guy tied for 3rd with me). Yeah, we pretty much had taken over the place that time. xD For the mixed epee open, I placed 10th out of 28 and was the highest ranking unrated person in the competition. Much higher than I had expected. [/end of stuff unrelated to crafting]

Oooh, an Knit and craft hang out? Awesome! ^_^
I'm an semi noob knitter myself, and an artist, but it's really cool to see that there are others out there who are into this sort of thing.
I'm working on an over sized sweater from a pattern at our local yarn shop, (An small place, not a chain store), and probably going to try and re-make an simple roll brim hat I did, because it came out too small so I'm going to try and adjust the pattern a little on the fly.
I do really want to do a Dr Who scarf though, that would be pretty [email protected]$$.

I used to knit and it was very relaxing. Unfortunately I could never make the height of the item longer then the knitting needles so I was stuck making blankets for dolls instead of people. XD I was thinking of taking up a new hobby. Is it hard to do that? Make it so the item is taller then the knitting needles? I think you know what I am talking about but if not I can draw a picture and post it if not. XD

crunky: You can always knit it in pieces and seam it together, or get a long circular needle like 36-40" and use them like straight needles.

Yreka: Yeah, none of my friend's really drive who still live here, and all who do are bored by the concept. ><

Hi everyone! My mom tried to teach me how to knit, and I was an utter failure. :(

^ Maybe you just need someone else to teach you a different style of knitting. Everyone has their own little habits, and watching a different person might help you along. If you're interested in learning, duck into a local yarn shop and ask for a demonstration from someone who works there. They could probably give you some good pointers.

And most places like that love teaching new people stuff. I used to work at a store that sold cross stitch and embroidery stuff and someone would come in about once a week and ask to be taught.

I know that a lot of places offer lessons and workshops, too. Even the Micheal's craft store near me has knitting/crochet seminars about once a month. It's usually centered around a specific project, but newcomers are welcome to go and learn.

It only costs about $10-$15, and that's because they supply you with any material needed.

I love to teach people to knit. Unfortunately the last guy I taught quit after his roommate ate the yarn I gave him and he got stabbed with a needle.

*Revives*

I was surfing the web today and stumbled upon the coolest knitted hat ever:

But the pattern is copy-righted, so it looks like I won't be making myself a bearded cap anytime soon. I'm not talented enough to create the pattern myself. =(

A craft thread? I love to knit. I actually got started through Stitch 'n' Bitch. I had my mom by me the beginner's book, and I made the bookbag in there for my nieces.

Right now I'm working on an Eiffel Tower Blanket that I designed for my youngest niece, and then I want to start work on messenger bags for me and some of my friends.

What an awesome knit...helmet Knerd has found. I think I could probably design something similar, but when would I find the time to make it?

That Eiffel Tower blanket sounds interesting. Are you putting the actual design in the center?

That's right. There's a block of color in the shape of the Eiffel Tower in the center. It also has the girl's name on it.

In an effort to use up all the extra skeins of yarn sitting around my room, I quickly crocheted this baby blanket. I'm not quite happy with it right now though, so when I get home I'm going to buy more yarn and add on to it. I'll find a more decorative pattern to brighten up the edges a bit and give it a more rectangular shape:

Is anyone else a member of Craftster?
I like to haunt their forums in order to get ideas for my next project.

Even though a lot of people don't post their patterns, it's still nice to see the end product. Especially with the reconstructed clothing forum - I'm in love with most of the girls there. They have more talent with a sewing machine than I ever will.
