AAaaaaaah!!! I hate Microshaft. So I'm looking for updated drivers and the updater thing says - hey, you wanna dl SP3? I figure, hm, updated drivers.... ok.
BLUE SCREEN OF DOOOOOOM. Wouldn't even load to safe mode. I had a backup, but it's pretty old, so all the stuff I've installed since then is gone, all my bookmarks are gone... Seriously, I'm glad my second hard drive is where I put all my downloads or I'd be out on a killing spree right now. First thing I reinstalled - Firefox. Then I went about gathering the most important bookmarks. Then ate dinner. I JUUUUST got done reinstalling all my Sims2 disks last month. I'm not looking forward to doing it again. XP |
That sucks, I didn't know Service pack 3 was available now anyways.

I haven't gone back to look, but I have a sneaking suspicion it's really meant for Vista computers. Why it would appear as available for me on the usual update thing if it was going to screw me over is beyond me.

Holly hell Jezriel that sounds awful. I hate when my computer does that (not often at all)I get so annoyed when I have to reinstall things or try and find things again. I always feel that it is hopeless and that I will never again recover what I lost.

Well, curiousity struck so I googled it. Seems it's just out like last week and should work just fine with my computer.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAaaaa.

Hmm well it may just be a waste of time since you already installed firefox and all those other things already and you will just have to put them on again if your computer crashes again. Is it really that needed?

Eh, I really haven't installed much of anything yet. Just Firefox. I'm redownloading the things I'll need to install asap - like ad-aware and spybot. But I can tuck those into a protected folder on my second hdd where they won't get erased should the worst happen again.

Service Pack 1 is available for Vista, and Service pack 3 is available for XP.

Well, update on my situation. I managed to get things somewhat stabilized on my computer - and now it seems I've skrewed my internet somehow. I can go to most sites, but not everything? Like ebay. I can see the ebay homepage but the sign on page acts like I'm not connected to the internet. Same for my yahoo mail. I'm so confused.
What on earth could do that? My Ad-Aware program won't update, says I'm not connected to the internet. My Azureus bittorrent program says I'm not connected to the interenet. But obviously - I'm connected. I'm posting, surfing, and getting dead ends in my research. XP |
When stuff like this happens there is just one thing to do and that is .... smash the computer or if you want to keep your computer then you cansend it to a computer person
