I dont know? Maybe we should ask Insomniac: whether he likes to drink at the drop of a hat or not?

@Poets Playground, finding mates to drink with is easy. Finding GOOD mates to drink with is another story. Good mates are ones that you enjoy going out and having a laugh and a good time with, but when things get a little rough for what ever reason, the booze hits you hard or what have you, theyre there to carry your messy a$$ back home and make sure youre ok!

@Wandering Poet, i believe ive made that call when a couple of mates have said that to us whilst drinking at various points. Of course, you always know that in a few weeks time or a couple of months at the longest, theyll feel like drinking again so theyll be back drinking with you before long! :P

I have some "conditions" I follow:

Am I being challenged? Yes? Drink!

Has it been more than a week since I saw someone? Yes? Drink!

Is there enough alcohol to get a buzz? No? Don't drink.

Do I have a meeting/lecture/class to go to? Yes? Drink!

Am I being offered offensively bad alcohol? Yes? Skip the middle man, and pour it in the toilet.

Can I pretend we have a designated driver? Yes? Drink!

Can I pretend we have a designated driver? No? Drink and find a bench to sleep on.

Is the present company boring? Yes? Find someone else and have a drink.

Girlfriend complaining? Yes? Drink!

Girlfriend complaining? No? Get her to have a drink first, then drink!

Well, I don't even go out at all, therefore I am generally on my own. I also take awhile to get comfortable with people. Would not want to drink with someone I do not trust implicitly.

Drop Bear 08-27-2011 11:09 AM

Inso, i tip my hat to you sir, such a well constructed set of logic gates like those should ensure a reasonable level of sobriety in only the most unfortunate circumstances! I do think you may have missed one: "Am I cooking, possibly at a bbq? Yes? Drink!"

Me on the other hand, i DONT drink to excess in public places unless im thoroughly familliar with the location and regular patronage before hand. I usually dont even drink in public.
I will drink at house parties and in small groups like when camping etc if the atmosphere and crowd is agreeable... or if i want to try and put myself to sleep to end the misery of being present lol!

Have you ever gone a long time without listening to your favorite music, for whatever reason, and then listened to it?

Well, it makes me really happy...

Drop Bear 08-28-2011 06:17 AM

Im doing that today. Cant stick with just one album/artist so i decided to load EVERYTHING into Winamp and hit shuffle!

Death Metal, Classical, Dubstep, Rock, Thrash Metal, such strange combinations to play after each other!

poet`s playground 08-28-2011 06:23 AM

Well, I admittedly don't know what dubstep is, but... they don't sound all that strange. My library is similarly varied, although it's not so much metal and classical, as just a range of popular music types. Except that today... I was listening to Green Day.

...Just Green Day.

Drop Bear 08-28-2011 06:34 AM

Poet, this is some decent dubstep: You should turn your bass ALL the way up and make it reasonably loud, otherwise you miss a lot of the low frequency sounds i think!

You know... I don't think I've been in that circumstance, I always let other people man the bbq. Cooking for a lady at home might impress her, but fondling a bunch of sausage sure doesn't ;)

*dumps some chicken in a bag with a can of beer before bed*

Ling 08-28-2011 10:33 AM

I don't drink, period. But I don't have anything against others drinking socially as long as it's in moderation.

Drop Bear 08-29-2011 07:54 AM

I like to have a rum and coke while im cooking dinner, and i used to have to cook the weekly barbie at work a few years back (before they canned it) and it just felt like i needed a drink in my other hand next to the tongs while i was cooking lol!

Also, ive done the cooking for a lady thing, but there was no barbeque involved there... and i think i had a drink then too? And Inso, it all depends how you fondle said sausage i think! ;)

poet`s playground 08-30-2011 01:24 AM

I have to say there are certain situations in which that might actually be attractive .

The Wandering Poet 08-31-2011 04:19 AM

Inso... I totally love your "guidelines"

I don't drink, but I'm intrigued by the different effects it has on different people.

Also, you guys might find these pictures interesting if you like drinking.

Drop Bear 08-31-2011 04:35 AM
