lol. would it confuse the shit out of people if i changed my username to pirate queen or something?

i mean, i'm obsessed with pirates and jolly rodgers
so its not like its something i've never mentioned before xD

The Wandering Poet 10-22-2012 06:11 AM

Why do people like changing their username?
And honestly... it confuses me more when people change their avis

Ling 10-22-2012 06:41 AM

I think it's confusing when people change their username which is seemingly the only consistent part of a user's identity, especially on a site like Menewsha where we can freely change our avatar down to the hair and eye colour.

monstahh` 10-22-2012 06:55 AM

I agree with Ling, I usually feel that way myself.
Someone changes their username and I'm like...who are you i don't know you.

The Wandering Poet 10-22-2012 07:32 AM

Absurditea is a prime example of that...

Sleepy Anarchy 10-22-2012 07:39 AM

One day, I'll change my avatar entirely, along with my username, i'll put all my gold elsewhere, then I'll see how many people I can fool into thinking i'm new.

The Wandering Poet 10-22-2012 08:09 AM

None... I check people's profiles too much for that

Kalium 10-22-2012 09:28 AM

My Russian is a bit weak actually. I need to improve it before I start learning yet another language.

The Wandering Poet 10-22-2012 09:30 AM

Ooh... I like how russians sound... I want to learn their accent...

dessertdesiert 10-22-2012 09:31 AM

Nice Poet xD

I missed your question before, so answering now. And actually that's a good question because I grew up learning both, and am still improving both. However I consider Mandarin (spoken) and Chinese (readng, typing and writing) in that order of better-ness) to be my second language that I need to learn more of to be really fluent.

English is my best language so to speak but with any language it's always changing and always new terminology to learn. I would only consider myself to be 'good' at English, not excellent.

The Wandering Poet 10-22-2012 09:43 AM

English is just hard in general... [lol]
The english language has rules... all of which will be broken at some time

dessertdesiert 10-22-2012 09:45 AM

Interesting Ling, do you live where english is mostly spoken?

Ling 10-22-2012 09:51 AM

Yes dessertdesiert, :)

For me compared to Chinese, English is easy to learn, it's just inconsistent. [lol]

dessertdesiert 10-22-2012 09:52 AM

xD

Do your parents speak both languages?

Ling 10-22-2012 10:00 AM

My parents' English is not good. But for them it's like their fourth or fifth language. Mind you, my parents speak three Chinese dialects pretty well and I'm counting each of those dialects as a different language.

My mum was the main person to teach me Mandarin Chinese.

dessertdesiert 10-22-2012 10:01 AM

Ah, well that makes sense why you have trouble speaking both languages you know.

Ling 10-22-2012 10:02 AM

I think I don't have trouble speaking English, I just say my comprehension and vocabulary is probably not as good as a native speaker.

dessertdesiert 10-22-2012 10:04 AM

Ah, it's interesting how you put that. Do you live in the united states?

Ling 10-22-2012 10:07 AM

Nope, Australia.

dessertdesiert 10-22-2012 10:08 AM

Ah, do you like it there?

Ling 10-22-2012 10:17 AM

Yes, I think Australia is a good place to live. :)

Where abouts do you live DD?

Kalium 10-22-2012 10:19 AM

Sometimes I consider learning Azeri. Shouldn't be too hard for me, Turkish and Azeri are very closely related and there is even some mutual intelligibility between the two.

dessertdesiert 10-22-2012 10:21 AM

I live in the united states.

---------- Post added 10-22-2012 at 06:21 AM ----------

What the heck is Azeri?

Ling 10-22-2012 10:57 AM

I haven't heard of Azeri. Which country speaks Azeri?
