I'm currently living (or was) with my soonto be inlaws on an island off of Atlantic City nj. With that much rain and storm surge they're expecting 80% of the island to bne under some sort of water. Now we're in some swank hotel thing with a kitchen and a loft. And I have myu cryons. :3

Luckily the house is on the high end of the island and more inland. So here's hopeing.

How do people slip so easily... don't people know what be careful means?

I am not driving, but we are worried that most of the roads here will flood which will make it hard to get to work.

Thankfully I live on a slight incline... so all the water goes downhill and doesn't flood anywhere. Plus living near a body of water helps drain water too

Unfortunetly once things start falling from the sky (rain, snow etc) people get really stupid about driving, thinking that they either need to do 20 under the speed limit or as fast as possible to escape the weather. :/

Isn't it supposed to be 10-15 under? Just basically slow enough that you don't skid or hydroplane?

Unless the speed limit is above 40mph. It's safer to maintain speed, going excessivly slow makes you a saftey hazard to other drivers because they don't get the same opportunity to judge the roads.
The winds have picked up a bunch today and raining harder. We still have power at the hotel but the news isn't anything good. :/

True, that's why driving books teach you not to go under or over.
