I need a nap. Why is it on Fridays during Lent I always crave meat? Because I am supposed to abstain from eating it? It's probably the cooked bacon in the fridge with my grilled pineapples that I couldn't finish eating yesterday. I'm going to sit with it and count down the clock until I can eat it and I will devour it

Basically lent is giving up something you really like. Or another way to look at it as doing something you really should. Like for example one year instead of giving up chocolate or whatever I chose to call my mother every day. She's been having problems with her sisters and she was kind of being ostracized and I thought helping her would be a good thing to do so that's what I did for Lent I called my mother every single day without fail. It's basically you giving up something like Jesus did for us. And it goes from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday before Easter. And you are supposed to abstain from eating meat on Fridays and holy days. It's a very little thing to do but for some reason it is so hard. I seem to always eat a piece of chicken on Friday always. But I have been very good the last couple of years and had been setting an alarm and reminding myself not to eat meat. Now I was told that you can have broth like chicken broth or beef broth as long as there are no pieces you no big chunks of meat in it. But I don't know. Anyway I digress. Simply put it's you giving up something in some way shape or form abstinence fasting something like that. Wow that got really long I'm sorry.

I have participated in lent occasionally but have no faith ties to it. I usually give up things that will better me (typically health wise). I haven't done anything this year but mostly because I just don't have the emotional or mental strength for sacrifice. Although I do like the idea of giving something to someone else instead.

I gave up all meat except for seafood for Lent. Just allowing myself one day a week to eat meat.

I don't eat too much red meat, but usually have no problems. Unfortunately, BF has Crohn's so everything affects him...

I've given it up for so long. Now I can have small amounts once in awhile.
