lmao I feel like I'm an oddball then
I've been stung numerous times by bees, and yet do not fear them. I love honey bees. They're so cute and completely innocent. They wont hurt you unless you become hostile and give them a reason to. They only sting when they are in extreme danger, because stinging anything kills them.

I've had really bad experiences. I dont react well to wasps or bumble bees, but i'm not allergic necessarily. I stepped on a wasp that was outside once and my foot swelled up about twice its size and I couldn't walk for a week. ><;; I was just a kid and stuck on the couch crying my eyes out. And another time when I was camping with my family, my brother stepped on a bumble bee to kill it (for now reason, just being a punk) and it just sunk down in the grass, so when he lifted his foot it flew up and was really angry. We were all behind him (me and my 3 cousins) so he just suddenly screams and runs and it comes after me so we all run, and my brother and two older cousins dove into the tent and held it shut, so my little cousin and I ran circles around the tent screaming to be let in. It ended up stinging my cheek and I swelled up majorly. D: And one time I was at my grandma's and we were walking by the corral and they were ahead of me and suddenly this meat bee buzzes up in my face and chases after me. I turn around and run and I keep trying to pass but it had a nest on the ground and wouldn't let me get by. Suddenly the third time I turned away, I felt something in my hair and it was one of the bees on top of my head. I started beating at my head. I ended up biting two huge chunks out of the same spot and then stinging in the bites. -___- You can not even imagine the pain. And then after I was sitting in my grandma's trailer, I was by the window and there was another meat bee out there slamming against the glass. >_>

So yeah... I've had really sucky experiences with them. Painful ones. But honey bees aren't bad. It just gets a little red and stings for a bit. I dont really know how you guys have managed to never get stung. Do you not spend time outside much?

Bugs generally leave me alone. I remember playing doubles once and all three of the other girls were complaining constantly about the mosquitoes biting them, and I was perfectly fine.

You ate my hat! ;o;
I ended up not being too fond of that avatar, unfortunately. Pushing for a variation that's turning out to be some sort of odd combination of at least 3 previous avis with new items thrown in. XD

Plat, I just might..

-prepares for nomming-

I'm still glad we got bee items on Mene. I remember that the staff were having such a hard time coming up with an idea for the other pair of slippers after they'd decided to do panda slippers. I didn't actually think that my suggestion of bees would be taken seriously compared to pig slippers or some of the other animals that had been suggested. I actually thought pig slippers would have been adorable, but they chose the bees. I was super happy.

Ew, mosquitos. Those little diseases have plagued me for so long. If there's a mosquito within 10 feet of me, there's a 100% chance of my being bitten. They're savage to me : (

mosquitoes just loooove me, and the always seem to come around when I'm trying to get to sleep D:

I have so many mosquito bites right now from those stupid little things, ugh! I've had a bite on each cheek over this past week or so...

I've been stung by bees a few times when I was little, but not so much lately. I just remember one time when I was playing on the playground at school when I was younger and I was climbing up and put my hand down on a bee so it stung me... the staff used to say I was in the wars because I always had some bee sting or cut or splinter or whatever xD

Announcement!

Hi guys! So there's a few things that I'd like to address before the application deadline period is up so that things will go smoothly this cycle and so that everyone is prepared! Below you'll find a short list of things that I wish to talk about each with a little blurb to express what is required of everyone and how things are going to work.

Application Deadline: I have moved the application deadline back, from the 28th to the 3rd, so that we can get as many last minute applications as possible! If you're feeling up to it, spread the word to any of your friends that you think might be interested in joining as either a contestant or a judge so we can get the applications. I'm really hoping to get a lot of new blood this cycle so we can introduce more people to the Avatar Chat forum in general and this contest has brought many AC lurkers to the open and we want to let the site know that we don't all bite!

Entry and Judging Deadlines: We have had issues in the past with deadlines and in an attempt to keep things running as smoothly as possible, I've set up a new timeframe that will be in place for each individual round. New challenges will always be posted on a Sunday along with the results, which I will begin making announcements for in the thread so that everyone is kept informed. I hope to have these up between 12-4PM, so look for those! Contestants will have until the Thursday after I have posted the challenge to complete and submit their entries for that challenge so that the judges have enough time to send in scores and comments. The entries will be due at midnight on Thursday, and judges will have until 12PM on Sunday to submit their scores and comments. All stated times are for the Arizona Time Zone!

Cycle 8 Theme: For those of you who have not yet seen the theme for this cycle, we will be doing a renaissance theme. This can be anything from art, to technology or religion. There will be only six challenges this cycle, meaning that there will be two double elimination rounds. Maybe you should start your research on the Renaissance period to give yourself an edge over the competition!

The Prize: The prize for winning this cycle is larger than any other prize to date. The winner of this cycle will be allowed their choice of item from the November 2008 CI set. For those of you who don't know what is in that particular set, you'll have your choice of either Pirate's Booty or Ninja's Arsenal. According to current price guide value, these items are worth 11-13k each. The remaining item will be used as the prize for Cycle 9.

On a final note for all applicants, as there are more than the minimum required amount of applications for both the judging and the contestant limit received already, not everyone who has applied will be able to participate as they had hoped. In order to make this as fair as possible, for those who have participated before as either a contestant or a judge and are applying for the position that they have participated in already, there will be a chance that you will not be chosen as I would like to give new users the chance to participate for the first time before you receive another chance. I hope that you guys understand where this is coming from. I would like to diversify the Avatar Chat forum and let users know that we're really not as scary as everyone thinks we are. I want this forum to be more accepting of all users, and that we should all remember that we are here not only because we love the items and the avatars on this site, but because we want to help other users improve and learn more about the avatars on this site so that they can receive all the wonderful avatar compliments that we receive all the time!

Thanks everyone, and remember to get the word out about the applications to all of your friends that you think might be interested. Here are the links for the blog posts for easy linking!

*jumps in* Heyla everyone!~

I had a really pissed off bee chase me around when I was practicing outside for a presentation a couple years ago. It attacked my scrunchie around my wrist like it offended it and then tried to fly into my mouth. Thankfully I'm not allergic, but my lower lip still swelled up so much I couldn't do my presentation. Thankfully the teacher took pity and gave me full points by reading my script.

Lol, completely understandable seiki, I agree that its nice to try and fight the stereotype that has become the AC. And I do think it is slowly breaking down. I will not be disappointed if I am not chosen for this reason *nodds* though I do need to get an application in for judging as well. xP

one day i will find a way to kill you cami. maybe i'll stick you in a box and fill it with concrete and drop it in the bottom of the ocean or send it to space or something. but i think the ocean might be cheaper. then again i'm scared of boats, so i'll have to find someone trustworthy to make sure that you're dropped off right..

I'll do it Seiki, I'll take her to the deepest point of the ocean and pitch her off the back of that there boat.

And I applied for judging as well. Meant to do it the other day....but ended up running late.

I dunno Cora. You're a mommy. How can I know for sure that you won't take a jackhammer to the block of cement and let her go. Its in the nature of mom's to be protective. I can see Cami manipulating you somehow. /suspicion.

You do have a point there, Cora's mommy instinct often does get the better of her.....but this is Cami we are speaking of. She is my arch nemesis.

I might just be willing to go for an ocean boating jaunt if I am so needed seiki... of course, this would be purely for pleasure, the contents of any cargo on board or the dissappearence of said cargo would be strictly none of my business, I don't know what might be in that concrete block, but it's not my fault if anything should go mysteriously missing...

I'm considering applying to judge again, but i'm still thinking about it... I don't know if I was a particularly good judge xD

I guess you could say that I'm more scared of drowning. And open water just scares me because there's just so much of it. Its kind of overwhelming. I went on a cruise with my family when I was really little off the coast of Florida, and the water just scared me. And I was so excited for that cruise too. The boat was so big and I was just so amazed by it. But once we got out there, even though I was with hundreds and hundreds of people on this gigantic ship, being around that much water really traumatized me.

----------

slow, well, maybe i'll stick you and cora on the boat to make sure that you keep cora in line

you can still apply. i thought you were a very constructive judge.

Oh, I guess that's an understandable fear to have... I can't say I've ever had any issue with water...

I can certainly do my best to keep Cora in line, I'll bring my whippin stick! xD

well then maybe I will apply, later though, i'm on my iPod right now ^^
