This is the closest hairstyle I have to my actual one. The fringe is right, but the back is quite layered. The back of style 24 is closer to what I have on the back.

As for clothings, I am generally a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers person, so with a male avi, I'd just look like the average boy anyway. ;P

I needa do a non themed avi. I try but then almost always fall back into the same habits of having to have it match xD

That's how it is with me too. I'm not super critical about matching exact shades or balancing perfectly, but I still try to make them match on some level.

I tend to always be themed these days. ><;;

I just stick with colors. I don't try to put themes into my avatars.

In my own experience, "themes" aren't necessarily a direct cosplay/interpretation of something, but I'll choose items, shapes, and colors that fit with the general thematic concept I have in mind.

Seiki's avatars seem to have some thematic properties to them most of the time, where the items worn make sense within the avatar as a whole, not just because they match colors.
