The main problem with a situation like that is how to respond to it as a camp counselor. If you disagree, you run the risk of the kid's parents claiming you're trying to teach them religion.
|
I would just say that its not a nice thing to say.
I've worked a bunch with kids, and its usually a case of just reprimanding them in a way that addresses the rude side of the statement, rather than making it something that the parents can take as prejudice. Like with that, if you just said that the kid should not be telling someone that they're doing the devil's work because its impolite, then that'd be better than telling him that its not his right to judge it and whatever else could be said that the parents could take as an attact on their religion. (not saying that you dont know how to do that or anything, because i'm sure you know how to deal with it fine :] ) Yeesh. I just find super religious people to be rather psycho anyway. They are totally brainwashed. |

:ninja: I should be writing a paper that's due tomorrow! :gonk: |
I know, right? *likes it, too*
lol Well done. Paper for what? |
My ECG class...
My school has this nifty little extra core requirement thing... ECG stands for 'Engagements with the Common Good,' and ECG classes all revolve around social justice and whatnot. Very fun stuff (mine is 'Interdependent World,' and we just finished reading a book about Haiti... 'twas an awesome book, and my professor has pretty much labeled it the "Eat, Pray, Love" of Haiti. Only it's more meaningful and less... on-the-surface spiritual). Sooo... Yeah. I get to write a paper on this book. My thesis involves how this book is more than just about a spiritual journey of some woman - how it "forces the reader to see the political and economic realities of Haiti," etc., etc. ... It's an awesome book, and I've learned so damn much. The next book we're reading is mentioned by the author of this specific book (she read it before her first trip to Haiti), and I can't wait to read it. What sucks is, we have 500-750-word responses to complete twice per week, and we have to write a four-page essay at the conclusion of each book. Excuse me while I die inside from all of this writing... |
I wish we had wolf stuff on this site.
