Wings, you must have had a very good high school.
I went to a very small school in North Dakota. I started college behind, and I had to go a summer after my sophomore year to catch up with some of my major courses.

I discovered that taking 3rd quarter calculus during the summer is NOT a good idea.
By the time I understood how to do the problems, the test was already over.
Yes I did Granny. We were offered pretty much anything and everything AP. It's really helping me out in college since I want to get my doctorate in english and therefore could be in college for awhile

Yeah, it drives my fiancee and family crazy, as sometimes I just start signing when I get confused and they just look at me like "Love, we have absolutely no idea what you just said." xD
And yeah, I don't normally do it as I remember to push them under my bed, but when I do... it hurts! xD

my cousin is mute and I tried to learn some sign, but my college doesn't offer it and I didn't have time to take it in high school.

Awe! That's too bad! It's a beautiful language. And sometimes, even knowing just the manual alphabet is enough to have basic communication. I know that the manual alphabet saved me a few times in my first class of sign. When I wasn't very good. =P

At one time I had learned the alphabet in sign, but that was all.
My parents used to sign back and forth over what the Christmas presents were when we were children, so I decided to learn and find out what they were saying.

They only knew the alphabet also. They just spelled out words.

A Doctorate in English? That is very impressive, Wings.
What type of career will you do with that? Journalism?

I know the alphabet except a few letter, but I can't follow it fast. I also know a few words

that's very clever of your parents, granny. my parents put presents in the closet and me and my brother's went in search of them on year

I was watching a video in sign last night (singing along with signing) and I found myself signing along with them, with out realizing I was.

My parents and brother talk in Spanish, and I know very little Spanish, so when I do understand what they're saying, I respond in sign. =P Because I can be evil like that, sometimes. =P

My school has ASL. I know two people who are in it. The teacher is mute or deaf (I can't remember which) and he doesn't talk to them normally at all. He has a translator but even the tranlator doesn't talk to them to much in anything but sign. They learn completely by being thrown in.

Actually, I intend to be a professor Granny. I can't really see myself doing anything else with English, since the part I love of it is the analyzing texts. I just know I'm in for a long haul, which sucks. Plus, I don't really like journalistic writing that much, it's far too simple

Wings, that's pretty interesting and a good fast way to learn.

Heya Zea! ^-^

And I can't read it fast, but I basically will sign to myself when a word/spelling of a word confuses me.
That's my way of remembering it.

Sadly, I am very good at guessing what my parents get me. And I hate knowing ahead of time (it ruins the surprise!) so I just don't think about it anymore and let myself be surprised w/ what they get me. They did really good with that this Christmas and the last one, I was thrilled!

we only looked for the presents one year and didn't find them because we were afraid to be in our paren'ts room

we have a video on sign, but I only watched the first lesson.

I don't get surprised. my parents get exactly what I ask for

How're ya doin Zea?

My brother and I really never searches for presents, mainly because we liked to be surprised. Well, my bro when he was younger would try to find them, but mum would move where she had them every year so we never would manage to find them. XD

Our presents hide in our parents' wardrobe.

My parents typically do that too Kat. Until last christmas when I would hint at things I wanted but told them I want to be surprised. They succeeded and got me a camera. Which I didn't feel I deserved since I lost the first one. and if I wanted to find my present it would not be a matter of seraching. My mom sets them out on the floor of her closet, very easy to find.

Using hands, ears, and eyes together would help with memory.

Hello Zeapear. Yes, I agree with Kat. That mask is very frightening!

Becoming a professor is a very good goal, Wings.
I was very good in English in high school and did well in the college entrance exams, so when I started at the university, I thought of going into technical writing. But then I took my first computer science class, and enjoyed it so much that I made that my major.
I was able to skip my Freshman English classes entirely, and take the more fun literature/novels classes.

if I didn't make a list of exactly what I want, I'd just be getting my yearly trip to hobby lobby and koles.

Zea That's good to hear! ^-^

Granny Yeah, in HS I was in the honors English classes and we had college level spelling books, and some of those words were tough, my senior year I just started finger spelling them out over and over when trying to remember the correct spellings and it really helped -- while saying it out loud. Or someone will ask me how to spell something and I'll finger spell it to them and they'll be like "Um, what was that?" I just repeat it while finger spelling it out again. =P
