Enjoying your career is very important.
It is also important that you get along with and like your co-workers.

The final few years of my career, I worked at home, and it was very tiring. I missed not having the daily interactions with other people. We did "meet" in phone conferences, but it was not quite the same.

yeah i agree with you entirely granny. the people you work with counts just as much as what your actually doing. attitude is everything. i have been trying to make mine better recently. but its hard when your sick

It's good to have a wide range of interests.
You can choose a career to cover some of them, and then have hobbies that cover the others.

It's always good to have an outlet that is different from your career.

That's true. I'm hoping I can become a writer in my spare time, but I would like to have another career because being a writer is very hard! I'm thinking I'll go into something in science, probably towards the environmental.

Biological sciences is a good area to be in these days.
I always enjoyed writing, but as you say, it is very hard!

I find that thinking logically is much easier for me than thinking creatively.
