Do you start with an outline and fill it in? Or do you start writing the story out in its entirety?

@Fairy: Oh I have two books stuck around ten pages! xD
I started them but I had no ending what so ever so I got a point and went... "What?" On all of them.
I wrote them so long ago that I have to rewrite what I wrote already before I can continue. @[email protected]
I think this summer I'll focus on those, and maybe Yuen's fanfic I owe her. XD

My mother has been working on novels for a number of years, but they never seem to be completed. Then, I have a few friends who write academic material - even those are hard to complete because there is always another piece of information that needs to be added. I do fine with academic writing, but not fiction.

Good morning my dears! How are you all today?

Dream, you look so different today!

I remember when I was in college, I worked for one of the professors. He was writing a math book, and I was typing it. This was well before personal computers were around, so I was using an old electric typewriter he had borrowed for me to use. It was very difficult because I had to leave space for all the mathematical notations that weren't on the typewriter, and then I had to ink them in myself after typing the page. It was very tedious work.

Sounds like it! I remember working at places where they didn't have PCs yet - they were too new. When I was in the Navy, we had to type everything manually onto these forms. If you made a mistake and couldn't fix it, you had to type the thing over again because the copies were separated from the original with carbon paper - and all the errors would show up. I don't miss those typewriters Granny!

Even with electric typewriters, my fingers weren't always strong enough. That was before the selectric came out.

I learned to type on an old manual - big black thing. I could barely make the letters show up, because you had to hit the key so hard.

I know. I have a test tomorrow and I was studying for it. To make sure I wouldn't distract myself I sat downstairs all day long. xD

It's true that the computer can be a major distraction!
I'm glad that you were able to be on long enough to get all the event items!

We had an old manual at home. The keys would stick if you typed too fast - and you had to strike them so hard with your fingers. The selectric was a godsend. Always seemed to find employers who thought that a manual typewriter was just fine. I thought they'd make a fine anvil.

The event is over at 6:00pm Central time today. That would be in about 3 1/2 hours from now.

I think that Sizzla said she would make the winner announcement on Monday or Tuesday.

I think I may have enough time to complete another set!

I've been looking for threads to post in. I'm afraid I've gone into some very strange places! `laughs`

Sometimes I find a thread that is so involved in a conversation - usually pulling from the users' past experiences with each other - that I feel like I'm eavesdropping. Do you get that feeling at times?

Strange places are the best! ;D

And if you don't mind me asking, what's eavesdropping? o.o

I understand what you mean, Elmira! I feel that way sometimes myself.

Mimi, eavesdropping is when you listen in on other people's conversations. Usually without them knowing that you're listening.

Ah. ^-^
Well that makes sense. Yet I think everyone experiences that once in a while. It's often..Well, how to put it. In threads, usually there's some people talking or people had talked. Of course, out of curiosity people read back a few pages. Well a lot of people do. I don't cause I'm lazy xD Yet doing so you "overhear" someone else's conversation, right?

That's correct. In some threads, people are talking and exclude everybody else, which makes one feel quite unwanted.

That's why I always try to include people who drop in. I want everybody to feel welcomed.

Thank you Gramma ^-^
Well someone had last time I checked. I haven't checked today though, yet I'm going to log off. It's getting quite late and I still have the test tomorrow morning.

G'Night Gramma. <3
