Elmira Swift 04-22-2009 09:28 PM

I think we still have a few in GA. Used to have more though.

Y'all doing well today?

GrannyJ 04-22-2009 09:53 PM

Hello, Elmira dear!

Yes, I'm doing fine. It's a very nice sunny day here.

I've been preparing for a garage sale that we're having with some friends in Houston. I suspect that it will give us just a few extra dollars for our two days' work.

Dream_and_Die 04-22-2009 11:33 PM

Hey everyone I signed up for my classes today! I have:
Human Origins
Interpersonal Communication
Computer Literacy
Intro to Italian I
Rock and Roll History and Culture (I love that this falls under a requirement)

and I still need English II but all the teachers are TBA and I want a particular one.

EDIT: I's so weird being a full time student. XD

DizzyKizzy 04-23-2009 01:35 AM

Hey Granny. I visited your thread w/my other account GeminiKizzy during the easter event. I had such a great time that I sought out your thread.

GrannyJ 04-23-2009 02:41 AM

Those sound like very interesting classes, Dream!
Italian would be a wonderful language to take. Do you intend to go to Italy sometime?

Hello, Kizzy dear! I remember you. I'm glad you found us here.
Come in and have a nice cup of tea with us!

Dream_and_Die 04-23-2009 03:15 AM

@Granny: I like to travel and really love exploring other cultures.
The degree I'm going for is an English one and I hope to get minors in a few languages (Italian, French, Japanese).
I want to move around and teach English as a secondary/elective language in other countries. ^_^

My goals are huge, what? XD

tirethminet 04-23-2009 03:39 AM

dream... interpersonal communications? you? XD
and. rock & roll history and culture. <3

take me with you when you go teaching. 8DDD
i'll... find something to do? :/

oh, granny, i want to ask, and you don't need to say so if you don't want to.
but i remember you saying you are in south austin and your housing development was having a garage sale on the 18th.
but do you live in the cherry creek development off of brodie?

Dream_and_Die 04-23-2009 03:57 AM

@leenie: It was either interpersonal communications or speech those are the only two communications classes that count for an English degree. You know how I get with speeches. Like I need that pressure.

tirethminet 04-23-2009 05:14 AM

oh, gross.
true story.

ps.
HAT!!
(normal, side/back, showing the cute curl of the flaps - ignore my crazyface! ;_; )
since i, you know, promised pictures and everything.
i kind of didn't get enough yarn so i had to cut the hat short, but it all worked out in the end. :]
BUT!!
i noticed how it has a tendency to not stay on my head and me being the total dork i am, my first thought was
"how will i hunt zombies like this?"
like this.
not nearly as fashionable, but it gets the job done without driving me mad with an itchy chin.
(the straps are 100% pure merino and i did not card the fiber well.)
AND there's a nice big space in the back to pull up my hair into a bun so it doesn't go crazy.

if you guys want bigger pictures, i have some, i was worried about people with normal screen resolutions not being able to see the entire image.
my resolution is HUGE. o_o;;

green hair courtesy of dream. ~ <3

Dream_and_Die 04-23-2009 05:21 AM

Don't forget the blue! xD I did that too! Oh I think I found a good hair supply place and they sell lightener, so when you come up we'll go there... and if you get dye, buy multiples. Those little things aren't enough. I need at least 4 or 5 to do all that hair.

I need to do my hair red soon... but I need the downstairs shower... which is my grandpa's now. XD

PS: Where's my hat? (better yet where's my jumper?) XD

ghostPastry 04-23-2009 05:58 AM

Hello!
I'm new here, and this looks like a good place to come chat.
How is everyone?
I'm pretty okay. :)

Dream_and_Die 04-23-2009 06:03 AM

Hi briannamal! I'm pretty okay myself.
:looks around for the tea:
I have some English breakfast tea if you want some. xD (Granny's better at this then I am.)

fairywaif 04-23-2009 12:33 PM

I will view your hats once I get home, the library doesn't like your images. :( Welcome briannamal!

YuenGuon 04-23-2009 02:32 PM

HATS. ME LOVE.
especially zombie hunting hats.

GrannyJ 04-23-2009 05:42 PM

Hello everybody!

Dream, that would be a wonderful occupation! Traveling around and teaching English would be good to do, especially if you do well with other languages.

Leenie, I live in Circle C. We're the ones who tried to secede from Austin awhile back. They were trying to annex us and we fought tooth and nail, but we lost.
That hat is wonderful! I reminds me of the type of hat that my stepdaughter in Alaska would wear. I don't suppose you have a pattern for it?

Hello, Brianna dear! Welcome to our tearoom. I'm so glad you came. Yes, the people here are very sweet, so this is definitely a good place to come and meet others, especially if you're new. I see that Dream has already offered you tea.

Hello, Yuen and fairy!

YuenGuon 04-23-2009 06:07 PM

hey granny!
it's kinda windy today.
And I really don't know what to do today.
I have a homework that I should work on, but it shouldn't be too hard.
But I have nothing to really do today haha

how is everyone?

GrannyJ 04-23-2009 06:13 PM

Hello, Yuen dear.

It's rather windy here also. We're in a car right now, heading down to Houston. We're towing a little trailer, which is catching the wind and blowing us all over the road. I'm very glad that I'm not driving!

It sounds as if you have a nice relaxing day ahead of you. Time to do that knitting, or something else that you've been wanting to get to for awhile.

YuenGuon 04-23-2009 06:23 PM

That's very true, maybe I'll make some more of that tangerine/orange tea!
I'm not sure. I'll start or do half of my homework and then maybe relax a little bit today.

I also put together my fall schedule.
I'm taking anatomy 2, rock n roll history and culture, creative writing and spanish 2 w/review.
I'm excited for the classes, but the time slots are really odd. Like i have 5 hours between class on mondays and wednesday and like i have off on thursdays, but still have class on fridays.
But I guess it's good to keep things spaced out, so I don't get overloaded everyday.

fairywaif 04-23-2009 06:30 PM

Sounds really interesting. I took Anatomy and Physiology last year. It was a cool class, although cutting into mice brains made me squeamish. I ended up having to cut all the animals though. My lab group was a bunch of girly girls.
Rock and roll history sounds really fun! I hope there's some appreciation songs played!

GrannyJ 04-23-2009 06:46 PM

Are you taking the same Rock & Roll History class as Dream, then?
It sounds very interesting. I don't know if I could take the anatomy class, however.

I remember trying to arrange my classes so that I would have Fridays off. I don't think I ever achieved that. Unfortunately, many of my required classes started at 7:30 am! That was very difficult to handle, especially during the winters.

tirethminet 04-23-2009 07:13 PM

dream, my hero~~~
yaaaaay, lightener. i really should be starting to wash my hair more often so the dye will be out by otakon. @[email protected];
they're still in the setting up stage. :[
i haven't gone back to michaels in the longest time to try and find more of that pattons stuff i have for the hat.
anduhm. i dunno what happened with the jumper. i even still have your planning images for that in my cosplay folder, though. (only so i don't lose it in my general images folders)

gasp, fairy!
those evil library computers!

yuen, it is awesome, yes?
i'll put it up on craftster and ravelry soon. :/

oh, wow, granny. circle c is not that far away.
actually, i believe one of the entrances is right by my bank. XD
i do remember we were going to see a house there when we were looking for houses last april, but i don't remember if we did or not. D:
thanks! i don't have a pattern. i started off with one, but i derailed that fairly soon since the needles i was working with were smaller than the ones called for, so i had to adapt and change everything.
i will try writing up a pattern soon, when i knit another one. this one is more of a prototype and is a bit big.

GrannyJ 04-23-2009 07:22 PM

Thank you, leenie! My daughter inlaw has long hair like that, so I'm sure she would like a cap with an opening in the back for her hair.

Edit: Well, we've arrived in Houston, so I must leave for awhile. I may not be on anymore today, or until very late tomorrow.

YuenGuon 04-23-2009 07:37 PM

bye granny!!
and it is the same class as dream.

leenie: the hat is made of awesome.
i need to knit some more.
but school is taking away that ability.
but since I'm really bored today I might pop in some movies and knit my heart away<3

tirethminet 04-23-2009 08:03 PM

have fun in houston, granny!

yuen, gogogo.
watch repo. 8D
you can knit and sing. XD

Dream_and_Die 04-23-2009 11:50 PM

Repo! I watched that today!
I'll be gone again in a minute, Bones is on. xD
