Hi Granny, thanks
I haven't finished college. I completed one year, but then I ran out of money. The state and federal grants only covered half the tuition, so right now I'm trying to pay off the staffard loan. I'm hoping I can save enough within five to eight years (I want to go to college before I'm thirty) to go without having to take out a massive loan.

Well, I'm sure you'll make it, Cloud. Keep a positive outlook and stay committed.
Student loans can add up quickly. It took me a full 10 years to pay off all my college loans.

Thanks Dream
@Granny-- I'm still optimistic about being able to go back to college. But I plan on going to a different one than where I did the first year. It costs a little more, but it specializes in what I want.

Sometimes I think it works out well to wait for awhile to go to college.
Young people fresh out of high school don't always have an idea of what they want to do with the rest of their lives.
It's no good to train for a career that you will dislike or be unhappy in.

Happy Birthday Cloud! Now I know why I bake a cake yesterday instead of cookies!
It's been raining here for hours and it appears to be continuing, which kinda sucks. I slept so late because of the rain, I feel like a sloth!
I only have $125 left on my student loan and I should be able to start over again. I ran out of money and it's been hard. I have a plan though, and It's almost ready to be implemented, I just have to finish paying off the last little bit on monies!

Thanks Yuen, EDIT: thanks Lavndr
It's going to be a so so day. I have a lot of cleaning to get done before tomorrow. I will make myself an upside down pineapple cake though, I've been having that as my birthday cake since I was, like... seven. I love them, if I'm in a chocolate mood (which I'm not right now) I make it with chocolate cake. Warning: making it with chocolate cake mix makes it extremely moist and delish.
Some time this week my mom and I are going to go to Olive Garden as a birthday dinner to each other :). My moms birthaday is the 9th, only five days after mine.
Has anyone seen Sin around. I have another question about the recipe posting.
Because I'm trying to make dinner at the same time as chatting, I swear it took me half an hour to type this .

Well, I hope you have enjoyed your day! Pineapple upside down cake sounds delicious. I haven't had it in ages.
How nice that you and your mother can share birthday celebrations!
You shouldn't need chocolate after eating lavndr's delicious cake yesterday.

Hello again Granny
Yep, my chocolate craving has been satisfied by lavndr's cake. I love upside down pineapple cake, but my birthday's usuallly the only time it's made. We're not very big on sweets in this house, so cakes, cookies, and the like are not made that much. And usually if we do get a craving for something sweet, we make cinnamon buns or chocolate chip cookies.

Happy belated birthday, Cloudwalker.
I'm not so big on sweets either. I do like a good diples now and then or a bit of sherbet. Or a bit of coffee cake made with almond paste. That would be about it.

I'm afraid that I have a terrible sweet tooth. I always have a craving for sweets.
Lately I've had a craving for dark chocolate. I found some dark chocolate covered cranberries in WalMart of all places. They are premium chocolate, and very good.

A couple of months ago I had some dark chocolate covered cranberries from Starbucks, as they were on close out. Those were surprisingly good ... (Sometimes I'll pick up cranberry stuff for health, and bargains are good ...)

Thanks Guivre, what are diples?
@Granny-- at least dark chocolate is healthier than the other kinds. I don't like cranberries, they're too bitter. Unless they're candied cranberries that some resturaunts put in salads. Those were good. At our Weis store here, they had Starbuck's chocolate bars, those are really good. If you're able to get ahold of one, you should try them.

I'll have to check out Starbucks sometime. Normally I have no need to walk into a Starbucks, since I don't care for coffee.

I don't like coffee either. But it seems they have good chocolate. If you have a starbucks nearby you can go there (there in none even close around here), but look in the candy aisle of grocery stores, that's where I got it.

@cloudwalker -- Diples are kind of like a balkan/middle eastern version of funnel cake. They're a deep fried roll of flat dough, kind of a richer version of filo dough. They're harder to find than something like baklava because it's hard to keep them from breaking in the oil or crumbling after they're made. They are my favorite all time sweet. I can only find them at Greek church functions, these days, but I know some of the Middle Eastern bakeries in the City have them (they sprinkle them with pistachios versus walnuts.)
@GrannyJ -- congratulations on being able to avoid Starbucks that well. ._.

I don't think I've ever tried them before. They look dry though, I'm not the fondest of dry. But I always like to try something at least once, so if I come across them I'll try them.

(Oh dear, I think I'm gaining weight just by reading all these posts)
We have a Starbucks within a mile of our house. I should use that as a destination for a nice walk, and then treat myself to a chocolate at Starbucks.
Well, my dears. I think I need to sign off for the evening. I'll chat with you all tomorrow!

Nite, nite Granny~
@Cloudwalker, it's crispy, but really dry as long as you don't let it sit out for a week like any other pastry. Normally it's got sugar, honey or rose syrup on it. But if it's not your thing, it's not your thing. Like, I'll never really warm up to fudge. I can recognize it's good, but it's just too sweet for me to enjoy.

If they're at Greek functions I could probably find them around here. I live in the city with the highest Greek population in the US. It's the sponge docks. I really love the gyros and baklava around here. So tasty! Gyros are made with lamb, beef and a special sauce. Gyro sauce is also amazing on pizza!

Something being dry if fine if it has something with it that's moist. Like having the honey or syrup on it (rose syrup sounds so good, where can I get that), but just sugar sprinkled on top would still leave it dry.
Fudge I am picky on. I will agree that some you can't even take a nibble of without gagging on the sweetness. You need to find a few people that home make it. While some people make the overly sweet fudge, you may find someone that makes it just right. The fudge my grandmother made, and now was passed to me to make, was no sweeter than a chocolate chip cookie. It was just right. Mine don't always turn out yet, if it's truely made from scratch it is tricky and has to be done just right.

@Fairywaif --oh wow, Tzatziki sauce on pizza. D= For some reason I'd never thought of that, but it might change my life, lol. (I'm not huge on red sauce, and dislike alfredo sauce ...)
@Cloudwalker -- You can probably find rose syrup at Middle Eastern delis. I'm Bulgarian, I know we have it at our stores, and I have a recipe of course, but you need the petals. The easiest place to find rose/rose water foods are at gourmet shops or at a supermarket that would carry Turkish food ...
