I've had my blood taken so many times and had so many ivs (i was a very sick child) they really don't bother my at all. needles don't bug me but the fluid of shots going in burns.
abdominal pain is like nothing for me but i blame cramps on that one cuz i get some wicked bad cramps
lol kat that's a complete opposite of me i love the antiseptic smell.... it's comforting. (i think i spent too much time in the hospital as a child)

LOL, I imagine not, Woody. :P
I had such worrisome abdominal pain last year that I actually got an ultrasound.
And I have a strong, STRONG phobia of anything to do with the crook of arms. Blood-drawing from there freaks me the hell out, and so do IVs placed in that area. Makes me squirm and writhe, honestly!
I like the concept of giving blood, though, although I may be anemic... Need to get that tested. Anyway, if I were ever to give blood, I'd need it to be drawn from my wrist, or perhaps on my nonexistent bicep. 'Cause the crook of the arm would make me vomit.
You'd think that with a nurse as a mom and a nurse as an aunt, I'd be used to all of this. Both of them have some utterly hilarious work stories, though. I always learn lots in the process~

:/ Aw. I never had blood drawn till (that I can remember) till I first donate blood as a senior in HS.... My mom had cancer and was basically saved by tons of blood transfusions....so after that I promised myself I would give as often as I could, and I have.
Oh, ouch Facade.
I actually have a little scar from where I get blood drawn... They never miss my vein. I always make a joke about it, cause I hope they don't think I am doing drugs or anything, cause, I scar kinda easily.

Aww, that's so amazing of you, Woody!
I'd love to give blood for reasons like that. Just can't be the crook of my arm. :gonk: It's the least painless place to draw blood, but am I worried about that? No! :talk2hand: I'd give blood in a heartbeat, whether or not it was painful. :P I can stand the pain, just can't have it placed in an area that literally freaks me out beyond belief.

I've only gotten to donate blood once. Any other time I tried, my iron wasn't high enough. :/
And i'm anemic now anyway, so I haven't even tried in quite some time.

i'm not sure i weigh enough to give blood and if i do i'm just above the limit and that means passing out from giving blood is a bid possiblity for me. i don't want to go through that so wings won't give blood...
@Facade: My senior year of high school I went through all kinds of tests to figure out my stomach problems. I weighed 95-98 pounds b/c i would never eat b/c my stomach was always either felt like it was on fire or was knotted up. The doctors could find nothing, nothing at all wrong with me and i had all kinds of crap loads of tests it was ridiculious.
I once had to have an IV put into my wrist b/c i was too dehydrated to have it put anywhere else (they discovered this after pricking me like 5 times in my elbows and hand with no good results) and i didn't make a sound the entire time. The nurse was like grown men would be wimpering and you haven't made a peep, he was impressed.
so strange kat! the smell of antiseptic is soothing it means healing and cleanliness!!!

^^ Aw, see most of my friends have that problem when they donate with me Suona, it's more common than you'd think. I always make sure to take multi vitamins with iron a few days before, just to be sure, and I haven't been turned down yet.
Aaand I have a bit of a phobia of hospitals, which kinda started when my mom was sick. So, I understand. The smell, the look, the atmosphere.
Yah, there is a limit usually, but it also has to do with height as well as your weight. If you are like, 5'11 and weight 100 pounds, there is no way they will take your blood.

Suona the weight limit is 115lbs believe. and I weigh 120 (at max)... i dont' even want to try.
i don't agree kat. I will seriously carry around germ-x whenever i'm feeling antsy cuz the smell of antiseptic calms me down.
