I'm not sure how advanced you guys are so I'll try and make this coles notes simplified.


Have the free version of photoshop (all photoshops will have the capability of what Im talking about)
What you need to be able to do
Draw with a mouse / tablet
Know how to make layers
Be organized, dont be afraid of making layers, but dont go overboard either.
If you don't have photoshop a fantastic substitute is Gimp! Its a free version of photoshop 7 basically. The important thing is using layers.


Ok.

So the trick is using layers. As far as the drawing goes you start normally, in on layer create your initial sketch. Then make another layer and re-draw the sketch if the original is too messy. This sketch is very important in your end game!

To start panting you just make another layer underneath your sketch, us a paint brush/colour/opacity you want and start colouring in the mid tones. you'll be able to paint with out touching your sketch leaving yourself with a nice clean outline/base in the end.

Then you make layers for your mid tons and highlights for each colour separately. This allows you to change shading/details as you go. if you don't like it you don't have to repaint it all...





Hmm Yeah. I actually use illustrator for my sketches so in photoshop alone its much harder to get those perfect smooth lines. Soda <3s vector graphics!!

wow, that's pretty useful, soda. thanks. I've seen somewhere before about using lots of layers. I just never like what I draw with my mouse and I color funny or something. I guess I need to practice or stick to watercolors
