It's true. It depends though. Short stories, I love my tragic endings. Longer ones I get invested in, so if I don't see it coming.... talk about a low blow, right?

Yes, I understand... It is not out of character for me to get in a huff to find a book I was truly loving to have an unhappy ending, and for the characters I liked to have met ill fates. Later I am able to appreciate the story, but the knee-jerk reaction is often to throw a fit...

@Lise: I have that issue a lot. I almost threw a book at the wall the other day because my favorite character proved to be a major idiot and made a stupid, stupid choice!

not long ago I was reading a great manga that had a tragic ending I didn't see coming and it rather upset me. I keep finding tragic stories when I'm looking for happy endings. only short stories should be allowed to end in tragedy.

Lise: Exactly. I can appreciate a good tragedy, but that initial reaction. Yah. I make up my own ending sometimes <.< >.> if I am upset by my first reading of a story, I'm not going to lie.


Well, some genres guarantee a tragic tale Kat, so I understand that. Also, certain story telling, like I am perfectly fine in a horrible tragic ending in plays, but in Tv shows? :cry:
