I'm not going to try and correct something that wasn't wrong in the first place. It's not really my problem if someone else wants to take a neutral statement wrong and get all defensive. I'll just give them space and eventually they'll either move on and get over it, because it really wasnt a problem in the first place, or they will hold a grudge against me and stop talking.

It's common courtesy to apologise when you realise you have actually offended someone, even if it wasn't on purpose, this has nothing to do with control or being someone's "bitch". You hurt someone, you take responsibility and apologise, especially if that person is meant to mean something to you.

But, y'know, i'll take me some high ground and apologise.
