Eh, at a point it crosses the line from banter, which is lighthearted with obvious levity, to being rude. Competition is great, and it's to be expected that sides are chosen, but at the same time, insinuating that the other team is stupid? Merely because they're the other team? That part crossed the line, and that's the part I'm concerned with.
A 'role' doesn't ever excuse bad behaviour or lack of tact.
