Did you check out the FAQ thread, Alfonzo? All those items are collected and used to maintain your team's machine, or damage your opponent team's machine. In exchange you get seeds, which are used to buy the EIs when they are released.

Seeds: get you event rare when they come out. Also can be traded for credits at the hangar so you can buy event commons.
Gears: used by engineers to fix their team's machine.
Flowers: used by gardeners to fuel their team's machine.
Wrenches/Spanners: used by saboteurs to mess with the other team's machine and lower it's HP.
