Yeah, the thing is the only adult she doesn't listen to is me. She listens to her mother and father, obviously but she also listens to her "step-father" (they aren't married yet) and every other adult. I could say the nicest thing to her and she wouldn't care. Yet I ask her to pick up her toys and she throws a fit and starts crying. And then her father, my boyfriend, complains about how I'm being a bitch to her. All I do is treat her like the child she is. She is not an adult, so I'm not going to treat her as one. I was honest in saying that she is rude, arrogant and self-centered. If it doesn't benefit her in some way, it's the worst thing in the world.

I have thought about breaking up with him for this reason. But the problem is I love him too much. He doesn't have primary care of her and only sees her once a week. And she's his little angel that does no wrong ever... unless she interrupts him while he's gaming. The only time he disciplines her is when she's bothering him. Not when she's screaming at the top of her lungs, not when she's chasing and screaming at the kittens we have, not when she leaves a giant mess everywhere. I have to parent a child that isn't mine, because her real parent doesn't parent her. :headdesk:

I babysit for a pair of ridiculously ADD twins whose parents don't really parent them at all..But they behave for me because I do stuff with them. As long as I make sure to devote a little while to playing some game with them or something, they'll be good for me. Once in awhile I will have to like, really put my foot down to make them behave, but kids take well to structure and discipline if you find a way to make them respect you.

Yeah. I'm sorry if this was more complaining than anything. I should know that if I can't deal with it, I shouldn't be dating him. Maybe when she's older, if I'm still with him, it will get better.

Don't make the mistake of staying with someone, giving them chance after chance, hoping they'll change or things will get different. :c
