I get annoyed every time people around me speak Taiwanese (especially when they're talking TO me) and I have to ask them to clarify what they're talking about when I've already told them that I neither speak nor understand the language. -_-

Yeah, I have. Don't really have a talent in language though, so despite living in a place where it's so commonly spoken for so many years, I still can only pick up very few phrases and words.

lmao No, we speak Mandarin here. Most people don't speak much English at all, though the younger generations can at least understand it because it's a mandatory course here in schools.

No...Taiwanese is more like a dialect. Mandarin's the actual national language. :)
People here call it Taiwanese though technically it's actually called Min Nan.
