Chapter 1.

A HERO ARISES.

In the land of Bargoth, all of the kingdoms consisted of certain species of animal, such as Shonga, the kingdom where the bears lived and Korinoa, The kingdom of reptiles. But there was one kingdom that was different, that kingdom was Falinor, The home of the humans. This was the kingdom whose ruler was of great evil and his plans were simple, conquer all of the other kingdoms and who ever resisted was to be executed. The unconquered kingdoms feared for their futures and so decided to start a rebellion with any of the remaining unconquered kingdoms and stand up against the human ruler.

Five kingdoms chose to pick one of their people to send out to try and stop the evil ruler before it was too late, for the kingdom of cats, Tinogar, The chosen hero was one who went by the name of Marcus Davis. This male was twenty-one years of age. He was fairly built and stood at a height of five foot, four inches; his hair was pure white, neatly groomed and stood just above his shoulders. Protruding from the top of his head were two white silky cat ears and to add to the cat features he also had a long tail which was just as silky as his ears, his yellow eyes were just like that of a cat’s, even his skin was tinted with the colour of his animal making it extremely pale. The male sometimes went by the name of ghost due to his paleness, I should know, that male is me.

I never thought that my king would choose me to be the hero for the kingdom, maybe it could be something to do with the fact I am well known for my stealth. Or maybe it is the fact that most people see me as a loner and that not many would miss me should I fail, but what can I say? I am an assassin after all. The fewer friends I have the easier to do my job... Or so I keep thinking, but my two friends always remind me that it is always nice to have someone you can trust and talk to. These friends are named Wallace and Elizabeth. Shamefully I won’t be seeing Wallace until I complete my quest, but as for Elizabeth... I’m not sure; she always calls on me to keep me company when I am not on a contract to assassinate someone.

I cannot complain, they chose the best day for a summon for the quest to be given to me. The sun’s rays were pouring in through my window and onto my bed, even though I was still laid under the cover, I could still feel the welcoming warmth. Not only was the sun’s heat wonderful, but the breeze was soothing too, or so I thought seeing how the trees outside my window swayed calmly as if they was dancing softly.

I love this kingdom, the houses stood in neat rows on either side of the light grey cobbled pathways. The pathways were almost always clean; the same can be said about the houses. Most of the cats in Tinogar liked to be civil and keep their homeland clean. Unfortunately, there were the troublemakers who just loved to throw mud at people’s houses just for fun. Personally I hate the ones responsible for all of the mess, but the guards can never seem to find the culprits. Anyway, not only were the houses and pathways clean and bright, there was plenty of flowers in the kingdom to give it more colour, even the trees look wonderful when summer time comes. We even had a beautiful park in the centre of the kingdom which was full of wonderful flowers. The park is our kingdom’s main attraction. It is one of the main reasons why travellers come to Tinogar.

The warmth of the sun was so wonderful that I could have stayed in bed all morning, but I had been summoned by the king and that was one thing you could not ignore. I yawned lightly and sighed a little before slipping out from under my covers and turned my body to sit at the side of the bed. Like all other mornings, I stretched while looking around at my plain room, the only furniture I had in my single roomed house was a bedside table with a single flower placed in a small brown flower pot, there was also a single chair sat in the opposite corner from my bed. The last thing in my room was my large chest that contained all of my items which I didn’t trust leaving out over night and placed neatly on top of the chest was my assassin clothes. I knew by that point that my mother had been around to make sure everything was ready for me knowing that I would most likely rush and forget something.

Smiling at the thought that she had taken time from her work at the inn just to make sure I was ready for today, I decided it was time to get a move on rather than sitting around all day. I arose from my bed and walked over to my clothes to pick them up, but as I did I noticed my dagger at the side of my chest. The dagger’s blade was made out of steel and crafted to be sharp enough to cut through skin as if it was butter, where as the hilt was made from iron with a lion’s head on the bottom. I value my dagger more than any other of my iems because it was the last thing my father gave me before he set out to Jangor, The kingdom of the dogs. Me and my mother are bother concerned for his safety since most of the stories about Jangor revolved around any cats who travel there never return.

Shaking the thoughts out of my head, I took my clothes and dagger before returning over to my bed. I placed my dagger and top on the bottom of my bed before removing my white night shorts which I placed neatly next to my top. At first I had a little struggle with pulling my assassin shorts on, but once I managed to get both legs into the holes, I pulled them up and strapped my dagger sheath around my waist. Once the belt on my sheath was tight enough, I stretched again, this time I stretched a little harder, trying to get my body to wake up. Looking outside the window, I sighed a little before placing my dagger in the sheath and then pulled on my top.
