yeah, they are always watching tv or playing video games. when i get on to them they bicker and yell at me. when dad is home he rarely backs me up, lets them do whatever. I feel like they are running all over already and i'm trying to get them under control, but hubby doesn't help at all.

It's okay Dessert, i just guess i will hope for the best for them, and hope they take what little they learn from me when they get older. I love hubby, it's just when it comes to raising our boys we don't see eye to eye. he was raised different than me and i think that is why. his dad raised him, along with his grandmother. they are different from my parents.

Well his dad tells me hubby's mom left when hubby was three and wiped out the bank account. I think hubby(jeremy) was raised to be weary of women, like don't let them have access to your money because they will spend it all. for a long time about four years we had seperate accounts. we finally got a joint checking account, which he spent all the money, but i get blamed for it because i went to the dentist. also women clean houses, like all day long. nothing should be left undone. a women gets up in the morning and starts cleaning right away. and she raises the children and has a job. >.< that's how his grandma is. she cleans, all day every day. never stops. when she was younger she raised her kids and worked, plus cleaned house. i'm am not like that woman nor will i ever be, and i feel like i get put down for it. there are many other things that i can't think of right now. but his family acts like they are superior to all others and they know all knowledge. what they think is right and that's the end of it. even if the information is wrong and somebody corrects them, they belittle that person into thinking they are wrong. i've gotten used to it, but it's wrong and i don't want my boys to get stuck in that idiotic thinking. i want them to grow and explore and learn new things, to research whether information they hear is correct or not, not to just accept it as it is. i could go on forever about this...

Basically your husband and his side of the family are very traditional in their views of a man's role and woman's role?

Conventional views of gender roles are arrogant and un progressive, yes historically women have been house makers but in modern society a women could be far more powerful than her male counter part

oh I am sorry, sounds like his grandmother was only doing what was necessary to survive and keep up appearance and his dad was a kid himself and really didn't know what to do..... however when it is a two parent household it should be a little bit different.

this is what my father used to do to me, llonka.
if anything was on the floor or out of place he would pick it up and put it in a box in his LOCKED closet.
if i kept being messie and his friends had kids, he would give it away!

i learned quickly if i wanted to keep my things, i picked them up!
if i told him i was too busy he would say, fine and give away everything!

Yes very traditional and redneck to say the least. I feel like i am a very strong willed, outspoken woman when i want to be. i also feel like i am smarter than their family and have more knowledge than they ever will. sure they've gone to college but they don't apply anything they learn, they are stuck in what they were taught when they were young. being outspoken, he doesn't like it sometimes i think and ignores me and keeps going on what he's talking about. a lot my ideas stay to myself and never get heard unless i talk to my mom.

anyways i gotta get jacob to school, be back soon!

I think environment play a big role in shaping a thinking, but it also depends on the person whether they WANT to be like that. Some people just accept and follow, some don't, they will try to change it. That is why the world always change.

If it is conventional gender role. Woman are not likely to go out to work? At least Chinese ones are mostly about woman stay at home doing household works, and men go out. ONLY the pooooor ones have to work outside.

However I don't undestand why you don't have split account? Even my parents have split accounts.
Is it because of some taxes? or what?
