*pokes you all in the eye*
|
Interesting...
I don't typically reveal secrets... only to really close friends, and usually only if they ask... [ninja] |
Hey!
No poking the crotch eye! [illgetu] |
HIM feels so sick
|
HIM is still sick? :(
|
HIM wishes it'd go away. Or just be able to throw up.
|
How long ago did you eat what may have made you sick?
|
Begining to think it might be a virus as it's been nearly a week of illness.
|
That sucks that you've been sick HIM...[:(]
Regarding the whole secret revealing thing, for me it wasn't so much about revealing facts and trivial things that people didn't originally know about me, it was more that I had suppressed my true personality and it all came out in a burst of WTH. |
Maybe stomach flu HIM?
Ah... well if you ever feel like sploding into "real ling"... feel free. :) Most I think you'll do is confuse us... |
HIM's always confused.
|
LOL. Real Ling...I think that would've been a good username for a mule. Seriously though, I'm pretty much as I am here on Mene. That is in the way I attempt to express myself. Whether that may get lost in translation, I dunno.
|
I see... considering some likely is lost in translation... I'll assume you're about as odd as the rest of us.
Though... that makes me curious of how you would express yourself without translation o.o |
Without the whole barrier of online interaction? I try to stay the same...online and off.
|
I meant perhaps language translations. I know you've mentioned speaking..... 2 languages? Not sure which one is native for you.
|
English is the language I'm better in because it's the language I've been schooled in and use regularly when interacting with people when I'm out and about (reading signs and all that)...I also speak Mandarin, and in order of proficiency can also read, type and hand write in simplified Chinese too. I'm not the type who sort of picks up new languages easily. Heck it took me longer than most kids to learn my first language...anyway...
I'm grateful now that I actually put in effort in learning Mandarin and written Chinese growing up, especially in primary school years, because English school for those primary school years was relatively easy...learning English spelling, grammar etc and basic arithmetic and some other stuff was essentially all we did. So I put in effort into the homework and memorizing of Chinese characters...having been taught Mandarin by parents sort of helped with that...since that was the spoken dialect that Chinese was taught in at Saturday Chinese school. Oh goodness, there I go again, another spiel on my life story...when all I wanted to say was that I can't quite determine which is my native language...especially since neither one is my parent's mother tongue. |
Ah yeah... I can't learn a language unless I have major interest in it >.<
And basic Japanese is all I managed to retain. Ah... so Ling has no native tongue? o.o |
My parents have different Chinese dialects as their mother tongues...and neither one of those mother/native language is Mandarin or English. They tell me their taught me Mandarin because it is the language that more Chinese people speak than any other, and I only recently found out it is the language that more people in the world speak than any other language...I'm guessing with a mass concentration in China alone.
Essentially what resulted from that is that despite being exposed to these two other Chinese dialects, namely Cantonese and Teechow (there seem to be many ways to spell this one in English), through my parents conversations with each other and among their friends...I am really unable to understand most of either of these dialects... |
Citrus: Fair enough.
*pokes you somewhere else* [mrgreen] |
Roxxxy, your avatar makes me laugh...
|
I haven't seen signs of mandarin outside china really except MAYBE it being on menus... if it's even mandarin...
|
Mandarin is a spoken dialect of Chinese language...like Cantonese and the other 50 or so dialects, essentially they use the same written language...which is either simplified if you're in Mainland China or Traditional, for other Chinese speaking places, like Hong Kong and Macau, even though they're technically part of China but separate, and Taiwan.
So most of the written Chinese can be said in many Chinese spoken dialects...there are some characters/phrases unique to certain dialects though. |
Ah I see... so kind of like how various countries have different accents?
|
*drool* I want the FFX remake so much.
|
I lost interest in Final Fantasy after 7. Currently waiting on the unofficial remake of Ultima though
