whenever he is getting sick or getting over it he becomes incredibly annoying and wont stop poking and touching me -.-

I really do feel sorry for you.
I'm afraid if I ever did host one all I would do was the food.
They would have to be on their own for decorations, gifts, games, etc.

Do you ever just say the weirdest thing that pops into your head just to see how people will react to it?

Wedding showers aren't so awful, or maybe that's just because getting married isn't quite as foreign to me as tiny humans. Or maybe it's because I've done like three bridal showers in the last two years. Plus, usually, you have a couple of hostesses so you can spread everything out. Don't do it if you'll be the only hostess.

I'm still not sure what she is wanting me to do yet.
I know about the crazy of weddings, I was insane enough that I made my own wedding cake, while having no time off of work except for the day we got married.
I have made a few other wedding cakes, but I have never been the only one hosting either the reception or the shower.

Oh. Dear. God. Why would you do such a terrible thing to yourself?!?! Making your own wedding cake? With no time off? Were you a total wreck by the time of your wedding?
My sister did a lot of her own stuff for the wedding. Her now husband and the groomsmen did all of the flower arrangements, she made all of the lace and ribbon mason jars that held them and we did all the decorating. BUT...we were there the week before the wedding and had a lot of time to work. Although I (the maid of honor) got bitten by a cat and got an awful MRSA infection right before the wedding. My sister was less than pleased.

I am a trained & certified cake decorator even though I don't get to do it much anymore. My real job keeps me so busy I rarely have time to make any cakes & I'm out of practice.
Sometimes I wonder how our wedding even came together.
Our preacher was in the hospital because of a staph infection, we tried to get a back-up just encase. The one we asked first when we found out about our pastor said he wouldn't do it because we didn't attend his church. O_o Never quite got over that response, I have family at that church.
When I was getting my hair done the power went out so they sent me out in rollers across town to get my nails done (probably the first & only time I will have fake nails).
Then they sent Miscreant from the chapel to take his family from out of town to where the reception was gonna be at. His aunts were helping with the reception, but had no idea how to get there. When it was getting close to time for the wedding he still hadn't got back with them. Our preacher was out of the hospital in time to do the wedding at least, but he probably should have stayed in the hospital. We had a very limited time to use the chapel because there was another wedding after ours.
It was so crazy that the photographer didn't even get any pictures of me by myself in my dress at the chapel.
Our wedding turned out beautiful even with the insanity.
