It's a jumble in my head, but here's one possible form. A male main character who is of some race that lives a long time, and in the 1800s he fell in love with a girl who was supposed to live as long as him, but she died because stuff happened. I guess the story would be him going back trying to find out why the stuff happened… and if it can be undone.
