I don't consciously "collect" friends as you word it, but I meet so many new people in real life on a daily basis, and it kind of just happens.

For me, I don't want people on my list that don't ever talk to me - although there is always a select few people who is safe from that 'weeding' through so to speak. It depends on my connection with them. [yes]

I think it was a trend for a while. I would get multiple requests a day from strangers, like... what? Why?

I kind of use Facebook as a combination of all the possible social medias. I use it to message friends on a daily basis. But, I also have people on my friendslist whom I might never talk to...but maybe I will want to ask them something in the future. Kind of like for networking purposes.

Salvete: Ah, I see! I have a lot of family friends who I've known for years who stay on there as they like to see all the pictures I post... or cousins that I don't see or friends over seas who I don't get to see in person very often. [yes]

Roxxy: It bothers me when I get requests from people I've never talked to before. O.o It makes me want to go "How did you even find me, we have no friends in common!" xD

I have a huge pet peeve that's like that. If you are a "friend" , then freakin act like one and talk.

Vete: Networking is key! I added a former professor of mine, b/c I remembered she had majored in Native American Anthro, and I might need her as a reference. She is awesome, and she said any time :D

Ima: YES! If you send me a friend request, I don't just want to be another notch on your collection of friends... If you friend me, I think you want to talk to me... If you don't. You're gone! (Although it depends on who the person is... but usually the person is gone if they don't even bother to try to talk to me.)

That's great! I also have my mentor on my friendslist...but I always just email or text or call him instead of communicating on The Facebook.

My mene friendlist probablys needs a lookover though, i bet half of them dont even use mene anymore haha

But but...Facebook friends are not necessarily meant to be real friends :) I think this is why other social media sites, like Google Plus, let you categorize people based on how friendsy they are. Well, Facebook kind of does too.

Lavi, sometimes I'm the same way - it just depends on how close I am to the person.
I'm a photo lurker. I looove looking at people's pictures.

mostly if they have a connection to one of my other friends though, i dont like strangers D=

I have added strangers before. But, they were always strangers that I definitely would meet in the future.

Salvete: But on my main account, it's really just people who are either friends, acquaintances through school... and family. I use the account I joined the Mene group on for people I don't know well. I don't like adding people I don't know to my main account. [yes] I don't use it to network with people who I don't necessarily know. [yes]... Like for job opportunities. It's more a way for me to share things with people I don't normally get a chance to see in person often.

I don't like strangers too - the strangers get added to my side account first and if I feel they can be trusted, I will add them to my main account. [yes]

closest to strangers are probably people i add before a music festival or concert, just cause im hoping ill meet them there xD

I have Banche, MoMo, Imag and Keno and a few other people on my facebook and that is it.

Oh yes! For example, I assume that I will likely never meet most, or any, of the people here on Mene. So, if I were to add any of you, that would be on a different account from my main one with all my real life friends and colleagues. :)

But, if I were to meet someone from Mene on real life, then *maybe* I would add them on my main account. Just maybe.

Salvete: I'm kind of the same way - thing is I am hardly ever over on my side account, and most pictures are uploaded to my main account, and if people want to see pictures, my main account is where to be. xD (I'm a wee bit of a photoholic... just ask Lavi. [lol] She's on my main account. :P)

Ah, I see. ^_^ I think I would be too phobic to share photos of what I look like to people I would add only on a side account, anyway. There is always the chance of reverse image searching, and they would be able to find out who I am thanks to Google.

There are 2 other Menewshans from Michigan, and we all plan to meet up soon! [eager]

On my side account, all I have is pictures that aren't me. And not that many. I have thousands of pictures on my main account though. [yes] I really am a photoholic.

I'm too afraid of meeting people I don't know to actually meet up with anyone online - it took me like 7 years to actually get up the courage to meet up with my friend in Australia (AND OMG THAT WAS AMAZING... but yeah... 7 years of talking to her before we felt ok with actually meeting.)

Even then you have to be really close family that I see daily lol

I just did that cleared out 6 pages of people from my friends list on Menewsha [ninja]
