Chloe Hayden is an Autistic actor from Australia, its pretty much a memoir of hers about what its like being Autistic and going through life.

That sounds really interesting. There's another autism memoir I was interested in called "I Have Been Buried Under Years of Dust". Have you read that one?

I'm still chugging along on "The God of the Woods" though to be honest I'm not super liking it.

I hadn't heard of that one, I'll have to add it to my list. I just added one a few days ago to my wishlist "Autism in Heels" which is about the more recent discoveries about how it presents in women which is quite a bit different then how it presents in men.

That also sounds interesting. I know ADHD presents differently in women as well.

Theres a high likelihood that I am both, which also makes things present differently. I find first person accounts from other autistic people to be rather fascinating. Although recently I'm just interested in memoirs in general haha.

That's true as well. I'm an ADHD girlie but I find autism interesting and have been trying to learn more about it. In general I mostly don't like memoirs but I can stomach some of them if I'm really interested in the topic.

I finished "God of the Woods", the ending was pretty good but the book itself was meh. I'm now reading "The Nature of Disappearing" which I think I'm more likely to enjoy.

I never did, but I think it started because I like....how do I put this. I find the vast differences in the way people see the world to be kind of fascinating and Audiobooks, in the voice of the Author, is like seeing a small glimpse of how that person views the world. Funny enough, I don't like reading them, only listening to them.

Oh that's interesting! I'm not sure if I have ever listened to one before...

I finished The Nature of Disappearing and gave it five stars, it was really good! I'm now reading Isola which has been okay so far.

I've just been listening to another Words and Music, the Aimee Mann one - Straw into Gold. Its an interesting one, because she chose to interview people about their trauma and how that plays into their various artistic talents.

Wow that sounds like a pretty heavy but pretty interesting topic!

I'm getting close to finishing "The Truth According to Ember". I haven't been crazy about it but I agreed to read it with a friend. I really need to figure out where I'm going to put my book shelves so I can start unpacking my books. That's the only physical book I have available right now.

She did a decent enough job of not really digging too deeply into the actual traumas themselves. A couple of them were told, but I felt like it was respectful. I enjoyed it. Right now I am catching up on my youtube subs but then I plan to dive into that RuPaul book finally hahahaha.

Also! The bookshelf is the most important thing. I am aghast!

I feel like those hard topics are so delicate, I'm glad to hear they were covered respectfully.

I know, I know! All the shelves are in the room I'm calling the library but I have to figure out where to place them because it won't be easy to move them once they have all the books on them... Hopefully I can make a decision on that this week. The decision fatigue is very real lately...

I almost finished The Truth According to Ember last night but not quite. Hopefully I'll finish it today and at least open one of the boxes of books so I can pick out my next read.

That's normal when you are moving. Once you've got it all done and actually find time to relax you'll get your energy back. :D

For reals. There's a lot going on right now. At work our big annual conference is two weeks away so there's a lot to do there and then the house stuff is getting there but there's still a lot on my to do list. I did finish my physical book last night though so I'll at least go crack open a box to get another book out. I also need to measure the window seat and figure out how I can get a cushion to go on top of it because it's just unfinished wood right now. I don't know if it'll have to be a custom size thing or if I can find something standard.

I have never had anything like that so I'm afraid I'm not much help, I am jealous you have a window seat area though hahaha. You found yourself a nice home ^_^

Aw thanks! I'm not feeling super great about our home right this instant though. I found a venomous spider here this morning and am kind of freaking out about it.

Inside or outside? We get overrun with spiders here in the summer. I buy a mint spray that I spray the parameter of the house with. Gotta be careful though, cause it isn't good for cats. So I usually spray down the parameter just before I get in the shower and I never use it inside.

Oh no! That's good you were able to identify it was venomous though.

In my home, sometimes we get jumping spiders (my favorite) or cellar spiders.

Right now it doesn't look like much, just a wooden bench built into the window with a lid so you can store some stuff underneath. I did finally get around to deciding a final place for the bookshelves yesterday though so I can hopefully start unpacking books this week.

We've had a few brown recluse here in the house and a bunch in the garage. We've got the exterminator coming today and I'll have to evacuate for four hours which won't be fun with Yuna especially because it's during the work day so I'll still need to be connected to the internet and on my laptop doing stuff. Hopefully it all works out. The exterminator said the spiders are likely coming out more now because we've had a ton of ants and are finally starting to weed them out so the spiders are having to actually come out now for their food.

I know lots of people are now keeping jumping spiders for pets and Instagram keeps showing me videos which freak me out. I've tried to block any posts containing words dealing with spiders and report any spider video as making me uncomfortable but they still keep coming in. Not fun times on my end.

Oh, that sounds convenient at least~ Yay, bookshelves!

Aww, if only there were spoilers or something for instagram posts. D:
(Jumping spiders are so adorable, tho...)

Mann, I've been dealing with cockroaches in my apartment.. Pest control keeps skipping my apartment just cuz my cat has been left out. I just hate having to lock him up in the bathroom or bedroom... I think I need to schedule a day for treatment with them.

I swear sometimes when you block posts they show that kind of post more in your feed, it's ridiculous. My strategy has been to block them every now and again and try not to scroll *too* fast past them or acknowledge them in any way, because when I block them every time or scroll really fast, I swear it picks up on it and shows more.

At least you were able to identify them before anyone got bit. I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with that. We don't get brown recluses around here. We get a shitton of the ones that build the funnel webs in our bushes. The Black and Orange ones in the windows (not black widows I do not believe, those are smaller then these, these ones are huge and like 20 of them will build nests on our back porch) and the brown and green gigantic ones that are like 2-3 in big. Sometimes we'll get little red ones, and also black ones with a bulbous white striped butt. I have never tried to identify any of them because frankly looking them up online freaks me the fuck out but yes, because of our bushes we get overrun by spiders so I feel your pain.

Ugh, pest control is a pest!!! Hopefully you can get something figured out. I had so many roaches back when I lived in Brooklyn. My cat Yuna used to chase them around but she wouldn't kill them.

One night, it showed me four spider videos in the span of like 2 minutes and I was like ok, *swear word* I'm done with you tonight Instagram. I had a really bad day and just wanted some mindless scrolling but nope.

That spider situation does NOT sound like fun Cora. I get you about looking at them. Even seeing pictures online freaks me out and I had to do a bunch of research on the recluses so yeah, lots of nightmare material... The exterminator did come today though so hopefully they'll start dying off soon.
