Happy Mushroom Day, Menewsha! 8D (Long Read. 8D;; )
Oh, how I wish I could say that right now...
This thread is inspired by a post I just made in the new trial mods thread. :3 So, about an hour or so ago, I'm laying in bed... And most people who know me personally know I have typically the most insane dreams imaginable, but sometimes silly dreams about just surfing the net slip in. This was one of those cases. Now, before sleeping last night, I had been pondering how Menewsha decides who makes it to staff... If they had 'talent scouts', shall we say, who scoped out potential users and nominated them for mod/dev/whathaveyou. Well... In my dream, it was a typical afternoon... I rolled out of bed and sat down to check my mail before going to eat and start my day. I signed into Mene, and suddenly noticed I had been flooded with mail. I ignored it at first, wanting to check my thread subscriptions first, lol. As I'm surfing, my brain proceeds to fill in fake memories and information about the latest event the site is having. Something to the effect of "Mushroom Day". The event planners had even made a detailed thread with a storyline tie in to the equivalent of earth day or the fall harvest or some such, and it was very believable, so I shrugged and started playing. The object of the game was simple enough. As you're surfing and posting in threads in Mene's event forum, you were to be wary and watch the pages. The principle was very similar to finding buds and orchids, only we were looking for cutely pixelated brown mushrooms. Now, different mushrooms were the equivalent to different things. When you surfed a page, finding small, baby mushrooms were the equivalent to about .10g, or they went towards cashing in with NPCs for the EI. Medium could be used in stores towards event commons similar to buds, and the large, rare mushroom, if you found them were worth a whopping 10g. But there was a trickiness to it, too. :ninja: Sometimes, you would load a page, and see many mushrooms. Small, medium, large... And there's very cute inbetween ones with pixelated grins. Unfortunately, many users would get over zealous and just go for the first mushroom they saw on their page, not scrolling to see the others, or believed the smiling mushrooms to give out an elusive EI. Sadly, this was not the case. What was really happening was a game of chance, and you had but a few moments to click the mushroom you thought was the right one to get your corresponding prize. Otherwise, you'd get an equivalent to, 'boo, tricked you', and the whole was for naught. Likewise, if you accidentally clicked a smiling mushroom, mistaking it for an average small one, they stole one baby mushroom from you. D: At this point, after being tricked an annoying amount of times, I went and checked my flood of mail. The mail seemed to all expand into a thread form, and in it many users has been gathered and commissioned to do random tasks for the event for their chance to be nominated staff. Mods to be were asked to run specific threads, and tasks for the hopefuls was in purple font, potential site artists were in blue, etc. Each user had their own specific task to perform to make it on Mene's glorious staff. My request was a strange one, I must say. Jelly asked me, with very peculiar details and specifics for the piece, to draw a series of chibified and living mushrooms. Several other staff members also posted insisting I was the only one who could do the job and otherwise Mene would like, collapse. XD;; Which of course made my head spin and I thought they were all crazy, I didn't even know what art style they wanted from me, as I don't typically offer chibis. Still, with a mix of confusion and determination and not wanting to see my site fail, and inward desires to join the staff, I set out on my mission. Unfortunately, my dream laptop (given I don't have one in reality) kept crashing on me, because for some reason I kept traveling to different locations and my battery would die or I wouldn't get an internet signal. XD Guess it wasn't to be. So, after reading my TL;DR post, I ask you, my fellow Menewshans... Ever had a really bizarre Mene-centric dream? Maybe just surfing, or dreaming up crazy events you'd love to see like this one? If the staff approached you with any crazy request that ensured you'd be hired on the spot, would you really go for it, or tell them they were nuts? And just for fun, to those of us not on staff, who don't know how it really runs, do you like to think of the admins as coaches, talent scouts or rich daddy warbucks's who scour Menewsha for staff candidtates to shape and mold? Have at it! ^^^ These are not spoons, come up with original responses. \8< And I'd like to keep this fully Menewsha based, don't start telling me about your crazy Gaia dreams, or this would be in GD, not CD. |
Lenna has never had any Mene-related dreams...not yet anyway. Gaia-dreams, yes, but no one wants to hear about those...XD
Hrm. I want this mushroom event. Lenna wants to be a mushroom princess! On a slightly unrelated note, I was going to make my friend a mushroom plushie for Christmas. o3o We all must be mushroom-crazy or something! |
XD I've had plenty of Gaia dreams too, but we're not there right now. :heart:
Haha, if it ever came to be, maybe the staff could write 'mushroom princess' into the storyline! And clearly, we must be mushroom crazy. o3o; At least I didn't title the thread 'meneshrooms', like I first thought of doing. >o>;; Just makes us sound like a bunch of druggies. XD |
Yes actually just last night because I joined last night... o-o...
It was a typical saturday morning I wake up do some things that I need to and get on the computer... I got on menew and saw weird symbols... the symbols were EVERYWHERE!! I check the announcements and it said symbol contest the first person to find a symbol that is really a symbol and not a normal letter sideways or upside down would win 1000G. So I set out and looked at every single symbol carefully... when I just found the symbol and click it... my computer went nuts and unresponsive so when I get on menew again I have to find the symbol again... then when I find it the same thing happens. I keep doing this pattern for the rest of the day... when I was about to click the symbol at midnight all the symbols dissappeared and the event was over... Yeah thats pretty much it o-o... Ahh... Mushroom Day... that should become a real event!!! >O!!! |

That sounds like a fun contest, though. :3 Maybe during one of the events, a user could run it. ;) It could be fairly popular for all we know. o3o; Like, the user who finds the most symbols wins. And yes, I want mushroom day, too. D: :heart: |
:heart:I wouldnt... otherwise it would be unresponsive for a longer time trust me... I actually yelled at it once... and then it went nuts... I think my computer might have feelings O3O and my bought seperate mouse goes dead if I stay up too late I think my computer knows things O________O
Maybe we should run it someday by making a bunch of pictures and people get the pictures they think are real symbols and post them and the people with most right would win it would be awsome XDD We should protest for mushroom day someday too :heart: |
I'm really amused at the sudden spate of users reporting dreams about staff members. XD I'm also very interested in you guys having dreams about Menewsha-events. XD It's cute. :3

Luciana: Aww, sometimes I think my computer has feelings too, and that it plain hates me. D: Strangely, whenever my best friend's computer acted up, I threatened it with a wrench or screwdriver and it instantly started working again. :twisted: If I weren't busy this upcoming Christmas, I'd love to run something like that symbol contest for the winter event! I could give the letters snowflake like appearances, to make it harder to tell, hehe. One day we'll have Mushroom Day, don't worry. 8D I event dreamt of how I might plan a big, long, user run event if we had it. But I'm not sure how I'd do the mushroom finding without being able to reward .10g or whatever for them. XD Maybe a point system instead? But then people would just quote my posts rather than find them on a page, and that's not really as creative... CK: You mean other people dream about you crazy staff? XD :heart: I'd like to hear too. The only thing I can figure, when I brush my teeth every day, the cat sits in there with me. He has a blanket which belonged to my sisters when they were younger that he sleeps on, that has crudely drawn images meant to look like crayon scribbles, with beginner words corresponding like rocket, cactus, bird, etc. And there's mushrooms on it. Haha, such libel. I'm sure many a user would jump at the chance to draw mushrooms? :ninja: Or maybe I'm just crazy... I even daydreamed of drawing my avatar in a banner, dreaming over herself in the great, 'mushroom princess' ball gown, only to have her dream bubble popped and end up in a giant mushroom costume. XD! |
Yeah. :3 There has been a spate of users telling staff lately that they'd dreamed of them.

I used to dream about Mene at least once a week, but I haven't had as much time to be here since so much as come up in real life. xD Should slow down in the new year and be addicted again. :'3 But really, if so many of us are dreaming about mene, I'm pressed to think some naughty admins are using subliminal messaging. |
I dunno. XD One mentioned it to an AA over MSN, another mentioned it to me in the Exchange, and there was someone else who mentioned it on about the same day. XD I'd have to check the staff thread.
I'm pretty sure the conversation came up because someone on Staff had a crazy Menewsha dream, so I shared mine, and others started sharing, "Oh, yesterday someone said they dreamed about me..." which made me share my, "Y'know, a user told me she'd dreamed of me the other day too.." and so forth. XD; |
Ahhh... Haha... I actually dream about online friends on the whole, often.
In fact, a friend of mine I met on Mene, who isn't on much any more.... A couple months ago I dreamt she got this really awesome car, and my boyfriend stole it and held it hostage cause he wanted her to come back to Mene and finish our art commissions. xD!;; How conveniently she side-steps the accusation in my post, too. Fufufu. |
I tend not to have dreams related to games. I think the only times I do I dream I'm the actual character I play... I think this has happened only twice... once for World of Warcrack and once for Final Fantasy. (I think I was Yuna or something?) But outside of that most of my dreams, oddly enough, actually come from real life. It's really strange because 9 times out of 10 they actually end up becomming true. >.> I don't think i'm phycic or anything, but I do have dreams of the future occasionally. But they're average things that happen in life.... not life changing events... LOL.
