Well, I'm 15. And I agree. :3
I much rather this forum than anywhere else, because most posts are LITERATE!
-ray of sunshine-

:3

But I think it's because of the way this forum works.
As in, you can't spam, bot, it's relatively strict in rules.

Sundey 03-25-2009 07:26 PM

I'm 17, going on 18. It's nice to have a place where mature people are. I couldn't stand gaia. People are so immature, cussing because they think it's cool, and so on.

Kirihara 03-27-2009 09:24 PM

I have noticed (in my short time on here lol) that it seems a lot of the people on here are from an older crowd. Not that it bothers me, but it's a little...odd to see threads about people about to get married for the first or second time XD;; I mean, it's an avatar site. I don't necessarily consider it to be a place for just teenagers and younger, but it can feel a little odd to see a large 20+ community on this kind of site.

I guess it's true that it's because of a difference in interest, because there really is a large difference between the game-drive Gaia and the forum-driven Menewsha. And plus, the rules here are very clear about what to and not to do, and it's not as loose and most other avatar sites.

Oh, oh, but it's wonderful to get people who are smart! And literate! And yeah! I hope I'll fit in < n <

ellaangelus 03-28-2009 11:48 AM

well i'm 14
so... ^^'
and i actually haven't met anyone older than 20
or maybe they just forgot to tell me
anyway...
even if that was true
(maybe it is, maybe not)
what's the big deal?

jellysundae 03-28-2009 03:02 PM

It's not odd! Are people over the age of 17 not supposed to use the internet any more then? Apart from for buying their walking frames and incontinence pants of course...

Seiki Nova 03-28-2009 05:52 PM

I wasn't aware that being in your late teens qualified you as being "older" on an avatar site, unless we're comparing Menewsha to Gaia where 3/4 of the population there are still in single digits. I'll be 19 at the end of june, though I wouldn't qualify myself as being older. I would have to say it's more uncommon to have users who are 30+ on these kinds of sites, though with how long avatar sites have been growing and expanding, I think it's almost at that point where its kind of expected to draw in an older audience, especially when the sites in question are geared towards older users. When you don't have to work so hard to keep things geared towards a younger audience, you can bring in older users.

Jelly, there must be a lot of users here with walking frames if they start buying at 17 xD

jellysundae 03-28-2009 08:11 PM

I'm just following the premise that you've commented on. Obviously when you've my age and see 20 year olds classed as "older" it's pretty horrifying

Seiki Nova 03-29-2009 02:53 AM

I'm already horrified when people suggest I'm older than I am xD

jellysundae 03-29-2009 05:39 PM

Lol, that's because you're vain

Jennifer 03-29-2009 07:57 PM

I just checked your profile, Seiki. I actually thought you were younger.

Seiki Nova 03-29-2009 08:34 PM

Yes I do have a big problem with vanity haha.

jennifer, in person im a lot different. you can see older depending on the day.

celestial pocky 04-01-2009 07:30 PM

I agree, this does seem to be an older oriented community.

I can't say I dislike it, since I'm so used to places like Gaia having noobish 12 year olds that still think spamming and begging is ok/funny.
Its just irritating, so I like it to be part of places like Menewsha and Solia, because they aren't spam city.

And I'm 19, going on 20 in July. =]

Mello 04-02-2009 03:04 AM

I noticed that when i joined Menewsha.
I'm 13, and I'm okay with it, since it's so literate here. o3o

Shuu 04-02-2009 07:30 PM

As far as avatar communities go, I think Solia has the oldest crowd.

But I believe that Menewsha is right after then, despite the fact that sooome of the members are probably 10-years-old, I'm sure. xD

jellysundae 04-02-2009 07:40 PM

Depends what you class as "old" though, doesn't it? We have a pretty large amount of over 20s on here, and a good few who are over 30 (including myself).

Aeisha 04-03-2009 12:09 PM

I dunno if people are older but I know that this community most likely attracts the more mature people. I personally like that oppinions are respected here that and the staff post and not just the mods. On some sites I am hard pressed to see even mods posting and acting like normal members.
This is still the only sit where I see the art based staff posting.

Sundey 04-04-2009 10:51 PM

I'm 17 myself, almost 18, and I never noticed that there were a lot of adult players XD

Toilet Llama 04-05-2009 04:57 AM

I could see that. I'm 12, but i moved here because i can't stand the illiterate typing of most the people my age. i'm sick of seeing, "Lol i hurd u liek mudkipz!!!12 !31!!!" and all that shit. I can really tell that the people are older here.

jellysundae 04-06-2009 12:18 AM

If you're 12 then you lied about your age when you signed up >_> You're not supposed to be on here without parental consent if you're under 13.

Same goes for Gaia, too, so you should report all those random 10-year-olds you see. >_>

But yes, I'm getting the impression as well that the users of this site may be a bit more mature than those on Gaia. I'm glad to see it, because I can't stand it when people use chatspeak. I can't take anyone seriously who talks like that, and if it's too bad I may just skip the post entirely, because I figure it's not worth my time to read it if it wasn't worth their time to type it.

Teriyaki Stars 04-08-2009 02:38 AM

I wouldn't be surprised if there were older people on
here mostly. From the posts I've seen nearly everyone
I've seen on Mene seem around that age with how serious
they type. :\

Hatake Ayumi 04-08-2009 03:19 PM

There definitely isn't a lot of young kids on mene. I think they get weeded out by all the complex rules and mods, which allows our experience to be much more enjoyable. And all the mature and intelligent kids are allowed on, and they probably appear older than they actually are.

I kind of like Menewsha since it brings together ~4 different generations together when they would normally never talk to each other. And we can have fun as a group!

I'm actually probably on the somewhat younger side of menewsha.
xD;

Thulhu 04-09-2009 09:07 AM

It's kind of funny that I found this forum because I was thinking of asking the same question except my question would have been based on the fact that there are love whips and latex strap items XD

I figured that the population was more mature based on those items. Or at least after seeing them I hoped that there weren't any ten year olds running around :D

My brother is almost 14 and he's had computers in his schooling since he was 6 years old. I remember when i was in kindergarten we had one computer in our class room and I don't remember ever using it. There's even a picture of me all dressed up on the night of the school Christmas concert proudly pointing out the computer to my grandpa! :D
Even in grade 2 we only used the computers for those read-along interactive books. I didn't get the internet until I was 14 and even then all my friends had only been talking about it for a few months. And there was no facebook or youtube or anything like that.
Wow I sure am dating myself..
"Back in my day if you wanted to talk to your friend who wasnt on MSN you had to send them an e-mail" *spoken from a rocking chair*
The sad part is I'm only 21 XD

Kalium 04-17-2009 07:32 PM

I agree with you about this one. This site seemingly has more adults around- in proportion to the total number of users, at least. And maybe OT, but why do females outnumber males so much here? I don't see this sort of thing in any other avatar site.

Thulhu 04-17-2009 07:34 PM

really i find that there are usually more females on avi sites and the men who are on tend to be homosexual in a higher percentage but i chock it up to the fact that we're playing dress-up with pixel dollies
